Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
very nice looking setup. if it clears the frame rails there, should give you some more room to tuck up the exhaust and save yourself some ground clearance

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
thanks! lol I did make sure it clears the frame rails. The exhaust is what i did it for, having to go under it sure made the exhaust sit low, but it should be good now, going 2.5" true dual's , thanks

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
all i did was put the old crossmember up in place marked a line to know where the frame rails are in relation to where i would have to add the pipe, i used a peice of 4" abs pipe so i could get the proper fit, then cut the steel pipe to fit, I did weld the steel pipe in place before i cut the lower section out so it didnt warp, then i welded to under side. primed and painted it! glad you like it. thanks

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
Ok I put it in place for you so you could see how it fits, when you put your crossmember in place, mark your lines to follow the frame rails, then mark another line in about 1/4 inch to allow for your welds, and about 3/4 inch on the drivers side for fuel lines, ill help and answer any questions you guys have, thanks

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
It looks like a good solid idea that you had. I like it and may look at doing that myself when the time comes. It sure is simple with the way you fabbed up with ABS first. Great job.

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
The great part of this is that it can be done quickly and with the trans in the car. Small modifications made and it should work for most any transmission.

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
I tried fabbing one of these but the pipe on passenger side was to large for my tail shaft to pass by, 4l70e. Also the mount is in a different location on the newer model trans, which made the tailhousing hit.

Re: transmission crossmember I fabed up
ok guys change of plan, only just got the motor in the car, got a family life to haha so car has to wait, anyway I'm going with a t56 now, so ill be selling this cross member, have to build one for that now, something similar I guess,
dustytrix mine works flawlessly, never hit anything! takes a fair bit of fitting and measurements to get it right.
customblackbird I used 3/8 I think I can check. thanks
