Can someone post pics of their T tops installed into the trunk brackets.
SubscribeI have 2 trunk T top brackets that I want to modify so that my 3rd gen T tops will fit into it. I need to see how yours are placed and what I have to do to mod mine. Thanks

Are talking about modding the 4th gen holders for 3rdgen TTOPs??
Have you put your tops down in the trunk area yet?? Its fairly tight just with the tops..

I already figured it out how to mount t-tops in the well of a 3rdgen and have the hatch shut and look factory... but i don't know if anyone has gotten the 4thgen holders to work they don't seem to have enough support for the longer 3rdgen tops nor are the angles right to truly accommodate 3rdgen tops even though the 3rdgen and 4thgen truck wells are completely the same and they do fit (but not that well) in the holders there is just not enough support and it puts to much stress on the corners of the t-tops that are in the holders...
Here is a shot of a 3rdgen t-top in the back of my 4thgen...

I'm sure you know thats not the "correct" way to install the tops into the holder. Even tho these are 3rds in the 4ths holder. Originally Posted by FueledSoul

I was also trying to point out to the OP that to do it "correctly" it wouldn't work. Thanks everyone...i am going to see if i can mod the 4th gen holders to fit the 3rd gen t tops. I dont want to just use the bags. I wanted to see how they fit.

These holders were originally planned to be installed in 3rd gen's...my 1991 Firebird owner's manual shows a b&w drawing of them.

Having owned a 4th gen before owning a 3rd gen, I always thought the "bag" idea was a pain in the butt in comparison. I'm sure some of you guys would take your t-tops out more often if they were this easy to store.

I wonder if these brackets can be made? That would solve the problem or find out if they are around.

These don't look too difficult to fabricate (not that I would know as I'm not a big fabricator myself). However, it appears to just be a slot on each side and a peg hole to lock into. This would be way more simple than fighting with the bag. Although I'll probably have an easier time once I buy a new bag with a better zipper. Mine is pretty much shot.

The problem isn't fabing the part to hold the tops, its that the trunk well isn't really wide enuff to fit everything down there properly

Plenty of room if you stand them on end. Not very safe if you get in a crash.
I'm talking about putting the 3rdgen tops in the well in a custom holder like the 4thgens that somewhat locks them in place.

My C&C tops are held in place back there with a 3 point strap similar to a seat belt.
