Ground effects issues
What's going on gentlemen...first off, i suppose you can say i'm a newbe to the forum. However, i have been a fly on the the wall using a lot of info found on this forum to resolve problems as well as come up up with new ideas...so thanks to all who share ideas...now, my project is a 89 formula firebird. Originaly with 305 tbi, no ground efx, you know the basics. I will be posting tons of pic to share my project and open doors to comments as soon as the forum allows me to...anyways, one issue that im facing right now is putting sideskirts and rear quarter peices on my car...ground effects off 85 or newer gta. I have no mounting holes or metal strip running length of doorway...input?

That kinda confirms what im realizing then...was looking to fab on mounting brackects to install side rails...just didn't know if another route was avalible. How about the metal brackets in the middle?(pillar area). I didn't pull those from the donor, seemed like alot to go through inside car to get them off...
can i do without?Mabey just use urathane body adhessive after bolting everthing else up? Dunno

Re: Ground effects issues
For the T/A style ground effects you need the ground effects and the sill mounting angles. The ground effects bolt on using a metal strip with one or two studs in it for the top edges of the rocker ground effects. The rear quarter ground effects use the same strip with three studs in it. The actual door effects are a straight bolt on using studs threaded into the fiberglass. The front fender ground effects are held on in the fender and underneath and at the top edge by another metal strip with several studs in it. The 85-90 has the ground effects integrated into the front and rear bumpers.
This is assuming you are using 85-90 style ground effects. 91 -92 is different for the door and front fender and with different mounting hole locations for the rear quarters. This is first hand info as I am swapping from broken 91 ground effects to 85-90 style.
I could not see your pictures either.

Re: Ground effects issues
I was at the local Pull-a-Part over the weekend cherry picking an '89 Pro-Am. Got a few pieces for my '86 T/A. Was hoping to get the gfx, but half were already gone. However, I learned that the rocker gfx on the Pro-Am's apparently do not have the metal braces on the rocker panels. Just a little FYI.
