What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
There are a couple projects that I will be working on in the near future [that will be made with Carbon Fiber and Kevlar]. I am curious to see what you guys would like to be made out of either Carbon Fiber, Kevlar or a CF/Kevlar hybrid.
Items already on paper for parts include:
1. Center Console Lid
2. Dash Pad
3. Front Quarter Panels
4. Front Spoiler Chin
Feel free to add on; the only thing that I will say is probably out of reach for us [production wise] would be hoods [for now].
[fyi I use a CF/Kevlar sandwich for stuff that needs more tensile strength and flexibility without breakage]

2 or 3 inch carbon fiber cowl hood, carbon fiber trunk hatch (http://www.bodykits.net/trunks-and-h...camaro/174299/), and a carbon fiber grill would be sick but I doubt they make those.

What about carbon fiber engine components? Can it even be done? air cleaner lids? i would get one in a heart beat. What about intakes, valve covers etc.
Of course hoods and spoilers what about interior pieces like center console lids or a custom gauge panel (for firebird lol). Or a stylish stock appearing body kit for base model firebirds/camaros. If I could do carbon fiber i would!

Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
Things that I would be interested in:
-Center console shift plate
-radio bezel
-hood louvers or blisters
-rear spoiler
-exterior badges
-e-brake handle
-front grill
-Trans am or GTA door panels
-door sill plates
-hood
-cold air intake tube
-front splitter
-side splitters
-valve covers
-center console lid
I would definitely be interested in any of those components to go with the carbon fiber grill that I already have.

And as for the K&N lid, that is crazy expensive. Even with high temp resin and having a 6 ply 2x2 CF twill set up [with at least 3 orders at a time] it should only be around $75-85. I would like for it to be lower than that, but until I find a decent, UV & high heat stable resin supplier....kind of stuck.

Hood, nose, fenders and doors but I wouldn't want to ask the price. For a street car, the deck lid also.

Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
Its probably going to be around $300-375 per dash; I can give you guys more exact numbers once I'm finished with mine.
It probably could be cheaper, but I'm running 4 layers of CF and 2 layers of Kevlar in mine for a nice 2 pc molded sandwich.
I doubt that it would be desired, but technically I could also fab a (2 layer) CF dash pad cover that could be epoxied down (not a suggested option, but an option still) for around $150 or so for just a cosmetic look.

That's not bad, considering the OEM replacement is almost that much already. I'll be wanting one after my stock pad finally cracks lol.
Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
You can buy carbon fiber valve covers- I have some lined up for my 5.7 if I ever get some money! About $600 I think...

I'm not big in to ttops but I've read that the drip rail? Think it's the middle part that mounts to the car? Bet some people would love one that won't rust out

Motobooks the thumb spots on that steering wheel are really great for when you are drag racing. I have a steering wheel like that just not carbon fiber and I love it. I didn't think I would but it feels right after you use it for a while

If you were able to make a full body kit for the Aero GFX, I would buy it in a heart beat...it'd go with my custom Turbo Iroc hood and Inferno Orange paint I have in store for my Z.

I'm sitting here looking at my junkyard fog lights thinking god I don't want to put them on my car couse soon as I do I know a rock is goin to hit them. What about cf fog light covers? That way when I go to a car show *not anytime soon* I can remove the cover and not show up with a busted lenses. I'd rather by a few covers then try and find another set of fog lights.

Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
Some 82-84 parts :
- Aero front bumper inserts, the flat ones with the "TRANS AM" inscription molded in
- the base T/A ground effect and/or the 83-84 Aero ground effects
- the bowling ball hubcaps
- fender vents
- rear spoiler
I don't care much for the looks of carbon on interior parts, that looks "cheap" IMO.

Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
Would it be possible to make a rear axle out of CF? I doubt the center could, but what about the axle tubes. Could that even work?
EDIT: Read that axle axle housing, no CF gears lol.
Possibly LCA's, front A arms.
I'm thinking reducing unsprung weight.

They said shoot for the moon.
So you pointed an rpg at the ground and pulled the trigger.
Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
I woould mind for the 86 trans am the rear emblem between the rear lights, and fender, hood vents, and the wing, also good idea with the tt drip thing, the pop up light assembly would be sweet, mirrors, and the whole front of the radiator support, front bumper would be nice

Re: What would you want done in Carbon Fiber?
i saw a carbon fiber dress up kit in my new jegs catalog and can i say i was dissapointed at the fact that it said "die cast metal with an adhesive backed heat resistant carbon fiber style vinyl" i understand they'd be alot more the 219 dollars for the whole air cleaner thermostat housing and valve covers if they where real carbon fiber but come on i could wrap my stock stuff in carbon fiber vinyl for alot less then 219 dollars, so i guess i'd want these in real carbon fiber, and the carbon fiber monocoque (spelling?) chassis from the famous levi garret camaro

You should have just laughed, and shrugged it off, now instead of just not knowing anything at all about the idea, you are also a crybaby.

Again with the personal stuff and still no contribution.
I would have laughed if it had:
A: been funny
B: you had actually given yourself some credit by giving a reason my idea was bad.
Instead, I have to deal with an immature little ***** baby that is trying to compensate for his small apparatus.
Grow up, actually do something productive.
