led taillights
im gonna attempt to make custom lights in the shape of the chevy bowtie and a mirrored image of it for the passenger side of the car. it will have one for brake and running lights alternating leds for them. the next one inside of it will be for reverse. and the third inside of it will be for turn signals and 4 ways. i have started to fill the void were the black stripe is so i can make a negative of the lenses.

stock taillights are temporarly filled to make a mold of the lenses need to pickup a heat gun to shape the lexan. all the leds and resistors are ordered just need to wait for them

Re: led taillights
what id like to see are some nice sequential LED taillights that cost less than $700
If you can find a cost effective way to make LED taillights there would definitely be a market, albeit a niche market, but still a market.

Re: led taillights
I have LED sequential tails in my Camaro right now, they are not a full LED board like OP, but LED bulbs. If you did the same light board style and use BigBadLou's sequential system on the power supply you have yourself a sequential LED board for decent price.

Re: led taillights
I can't find the original thread, but BigBadLou makes them and ships them for $56 and gives you instructions too. He was even nice enough to walk me through on the phone as the wires in '82 were a little different.
As far as I know, this is the last thread written about them, it is a bit dated but he may still have a few left.

Re: led taillights
btw, this is not a whole new taillight system, just a small device you run all of your wiring through to alter how the taillights function. As you may have noticed in the video, I have no stock reverse light due to this and had to make my own, other than that, they are great, haven't had an issue yet.

Re: led taillights
custom, you can have a paint shop do it for you, but I just bought VHT red and blackout. Painted the turn signal and reverse lights red until all the lenses were the same shade and then blacked them all out.

Re: led taillights
I've been looking at these for my '90:
Spaghetti Engineering Digi-Tails
There's a video clip on the page that shows them "in action". Price is $319.00 plus shipping.
