cut floors for sfc's
hey guys, was wondering if anyone thought about cutting their floors to install sfcs? i see people talking about their sfcs scrapping. i wonder if its worth it to have sfcs straight instead of bent or angled? just use one piece of square tubing to connect everything???
i havent looked under my car/project in some time, so im not sure if cutting the floor would interfere with seats/bolts, foot room or anything else??
opinions/thought???

Why not get a better set of SFCs?
In almost all cars the exhaust is the lowest point

My UMI SFCs don't scrape. They are higher than my exhaust

Re: cut floors for sfc's
I've only heard of the inners scraping. Outer/perimeter style is a non issue when it comes to ground clearance.
Cutting the floor is an extremely poor idea. Especially when your trying to increase stiffness.

I made my own (outer) and the ground effects and exhaust both hang lower. If they are outer and scraping they are either crap or not mounted right.
Inner I have no idea.

Don't be scared!! Lol. I plan on doing that with my connectors for exhaust clearance and/or whatever else I throw at it. Just need to spend time on layout and planning. Are you putting a cage in it as well?

Re: cut floors for sfc's
no cage for me. i want to lower or do air ride.
i remember seeing on a tv show (gearz maybe) they put sfc's in and cut a notch through the floor then welded the floors back to the sfcs. so route going, that i dont think cutting the floor would effect stiffness, just maybe leg room ect?

Cutting the floor for this job would be no different than cutting them to weld new pans in. You could tack up some bracing if you really wanted to. Welding the rails in though is a different story. You'll need to either get elephant stands or place jack stands so the car is at ride height. It all depends on what material you use and how you place the rails if it will effect floor space or not. Like most guys say the perimeter style rails shouldn't effect ground clearance.

Re: cut floors for sfc's
the sfc ive seen the pass sides are bent, not straight. so saying if you were to take a straight piece of tubing and go from the front pass side rail to the rear rail and cut the floor where it touched?
