4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

How much for someone to fabricate me some of those posts or whatever i need for a 4th gen spoiler to mount of my 87 Trans Am?

Ill offer out $$$ plus shipping, let me know, i don't feel like making my own lol.

but, if no one will or it's too expensive, ill figure something out.

Re: 4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

Shape of both cars is completely different. It would be easier to buy or build a custom made spoiler.

Not so sure about that, i've seen people fab these up a ton of times. Fiberglass, 2 inches tall, about 2 inches wide, etc.

Check this thread out, one of many. I just don't want to do it, never worked with fiberglass, etc.

Re: 4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

Making the mounts is easy enough. Use a piece of styrofoam or wood blocks to fill the gap between the center posts then fiberglass over the spacer. Sand the very edges of the spoiler down till they sit flat on the deck lid and there you have it. No need to pay for it, making a forth gen spoiler fit a thirdgen is pretty easy.

I've never worked with fiberglass and have a lot more stuff to worry about, was just seeing if anyone who had experience making these could just fab me up a set real quick.

Re: 4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

Take the time to fit it yourself. Use wooden blocks (press-wood attracts less moisture than filet) under the inner mounts, epoxy in with carriage bolts.
Then take it to a local body shop. Fiberglass is easy and mistakes can always be sanded down or started over. Shouldn't cost too much if you have it all fitted and prepped for them.

If you're not willing to put the time in, then you will pay $$ + ship. Even if you get a Hawk's wing, you still may have fitment issues to deal with. It's still the better option for those who don't want to invest their own time, 'cause you are paying someone else for their time. I always wanted a taller wing than stock.

My advice, invest your own time. You'll be happier and more satisfied, and then you can turn around and help others - double satisfaction.

I already have the wing, snagged it for $50:

I guess I'll give it a shot if no one wants to make money.

Ok you convinced me to give it a shot myself.

Do you have any extra pictures not posted in your thread or any further information? Would greatly appreciate it.

Re: 4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

Here's another thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...wing-my-2.html

For $50 you could destroy it and have $50 worth of fun doing it!
Like the threads say, the back outside edge is the key to getting the wing to sit down properly - there is a lot of glass back there at that spot. When you shape the wood, just make sure it is inside the body line - you will glass that in and give the body guy some room to shape properly.
Post pics as you go.

Re: 4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

I'm in the process of doing this now. The posts are done and I'm working on closing the gaps from the spoiler to deck lid/rear qtr. Its not very hard to be honest. I'll upload some pics when I get home. Thus far I'm about 65-70 dollars in the hole including the spoiler. 40 for spoiler. 15 for fiberglass. 4 for sandpaper, and about 6 or so for the two Styrofoam blocks.... Although I only needed one

Shaped the foam..(for anyone interested in doing it this way. (Instead of wasting your time sanding it. Use the concrete...NOT JOKING one block took forever other minutes. Granted i did only have 220 when I started ) Concrete OP. took off the foam super fast around the corners got it roughly to shape then finished with the sandpaper

That was after the first layer of fiberglass. all in all it took me three different coats. lots of sanding smoothing and shaping to get it right.. ill have to get picstures as it sits now..Im extremely happy with the way its turning out.

If your willing to ship it, and cover some materials then yeah I wouldnt mind. I enjoy it, but i'm sure the cost of shipping alone would make it a prettttty expensive spoiler. we aren't talking about a duckbill spoiler. These spoilers are beasts.

Re: 4th Gen Spoiler posts/mount.

I wasn't even thinking.. I figured someone could make the posts and send them to me and then I would connect them to my spoiler.. guess that wouldn't work.

If u have 5 bucks and ten minutes you can make them the same way I did. Then fibreglass them on.
