Cup-holder in Arm rest?
I have been looking around, and haven't seen anyone try this. Considering putting a cup-holder insert, in my arm rest.

I bought one for a custom shift p[late I made. It is good quality, but just make sure you verify what size you need, unlike my dumb self, which just bought the largest one

Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
Yea I ultimately scrapped the idea because I would have had to hack up the console to make it fit correctly and since I got illuminated swtiches, I would have needed a relay for the windows, which because I upgraded the wires to 12 gauge, there was no need for, and in addition to that there was a need to add more wires.
a cup holder is great, but there are certain things I wouldn't do to achieve one and that was one of them. That ofcourse was through my own fault because of where I put the cup holder and how big it was.
Hopefully you will have better luck in your camaro. There was a member on here that incorporated a plastic cupholder piece from another car model to work on his camaro's console door

I'm taking about the arm rest on the door. The one attached to your interior pannels.

Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
After they discontinued the gta deluxe panels they started incorporating those cupholders where the map pocket was on the newer style door panel. Personally I think it has its pros and cons - but then what doesnt

This also looks interesting to put on the door. I seen another member post one like this in a old thread.

Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
I think that when they were mounted on the door, this made them more prone to breaking, then again this is what I have read several times, but never experienced. The pro's of this placement however, allow the cup to be out of the way.
I've also read that the original design was prone to losing the screw caps- again this is what i have heard, but judging with the way some of the pieces were constructed - im not suprised
Don't get me wrong, I love the stock GTA interior, I just wish that it had a better fit and finish in certain areas

Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
I just measured using a spare armrest I had. There is about 3 inches of space on top to work with. Inside there is about 3.5 inches of depth. I will be getting a scrap arm rest I can cut up and would work with soon.

Do not think I can use this one. The lip will go over the edge
Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
I'm not trying to be annoying, but have you considered just running the door mounted cup holders/map pockets that came from the 91-92 firebirds?
Here is a picture if you don't know what I'm talking about: (not my car)

Here is a 3" cup holder, still may be too big for the door armrest though...

Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
Yes I have. But to be honest I just don't like how they look. I don't know why, I just dont. Plus I want anouther projet to keep me busy, while I save up for tires, and decals.

Re: Cup-holder in Arm rest?
FWIW, my Bonneville had cup holders in the door and they looked good. Thing is that they tended to spill so I never used them.
