Separating the trans and motor lots of times to fab the tabs and clearance the midplate.
The passenger side has lots of clearance.
The drivers side was tough, I thought about going with a longer plate and extending to the frame, but then I would have to put a bend on the plate
I decided to put it below the firewall
Since I have a front engine plate, with a kmember with no engine mounts, led me to this decision.
The thing that made it way easier was that I didn't have a kmember in the car, so lots more room.
I took out the rad, but never took the engine completely out of the bay, just moved it ahead as far as I can.
Finished product, but I still need to learn to weld properly
Now I can finally put the new tubular kmember and a-arms, but that's for another thread
As I posted on your other thread I'm fitting mine now. I went low on the drivers side to the "frame" just like you did on the pass. side. I trimmed the pass side more after fitting, don't know if I can get the starter in and out with the plate, headers and stock K member that's in it now. My oil filter was tight before with my headers and evac tubes, I might have to trim the plate a little more on the drivers side. I still have the section with the hole in it intact.
