Building a 8.8

I am picking up an 8.8 after work to put in my 87z28. Does anybody know were i can buy the shock mounts, spring perches, and torque arm mount to weld onto the 8.8. Yes i can cut them from the original axle i wanna keep my car mobile till this one is built.

You can buy them new but they are really expensive. I would try to find a housing in a junkyard or from someone parting a car.

Where are you located? I have a housing that I would sell in Lexington, KY

I have the housing in storage and checked it out today. Its actually a 9 bolt housing and wouldn't be a candidate if you wanted to use the actual tubes. The options above may be better suited.

Re: Building a 8.8

When I built my frankenstein 8.8 I was also curious about buying the shock and spring mounts but I found the price to be pretty egregious. You could make your own out of 1/8" plate and tube pretty easily. I did what you mentioned and cut the tubes off of a donor thirdgen rear end housing so my car stayed mobile until it was ready to swap. I have my rear end build somewhat detailed in my build thread.
