My new 1992 Firebird Formula

Well its a L03 engine. And i got it for 2700$ and it has only 38,000 miles on it. It was owned by an old man since 1995 and he passed away, so his son sold it to me.

Hate to inform you but that car is not a Formula is just a Firebird. It still a nice car it is just not a Formula. Formula's had power bulge hoods, a different spoiler like what is on the Trans Am's and did not have GFX.

Hmmm, thats strange. Because its VIN shows up as a Firebird/Formula on carfax.

Re: My new 1992 Firebird Formula

Those are also the 15 inch rims, no? LO3 under the hood? No Powerbulge?

All signs point to base Bird but a beautiful car nonetheless. For 2700 bucks you did well. That LO3 will be one of the most reliable engines you'll ever own.

Re: My new 1992 Firebird Formula

It is a Firebird, the big ugly hoods give the Formula away. Also, I think the Firebirds look a lot better then Camaros. Pontiac has always looked better though. I know it only the front end. Good buy.

Unfortunately its not a Formy, but nevertheless you got an AWESOME deal at $2700 with only 37k miles on the ticker.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I guess its just a Firebird, but heck its got the V8.

Would that hood fit on my car? I really like the look of it. I want to just put that on and get it painted to match the body.

Your car is my car's identical twin! And, no it is NOT a Formula. All 91-92 Firebird's are listed as Formula's if not a Trans Am..........sorry. But, you did get an awesome find, with the low miles and all. You can change/modify the car, as most people do, but I would leave it just as it is. Anyway, sweet car!!

When you see the price of a Formula hood you may change your mind. Very sharp car.

Very nice car and a sick deal at that price.

In all honesty, I wouldn't deface that car with a cowl hood, especially one so big. I would try and find a Formula bulge hood....I personally always liked that look.

My car is a base model Firebird, but I don't have the W68 Sport Appearance Package on mine (I perfer it without). One of the first modifications to my car appearance wise was the powerbuldge hood.

Might be something you'd want to look into.

Your car looks awesome btw!

I've always been a fan of the powerbulge hood with the base spoiler.

Congrats on the nice ride! Love those 91-92 gfx.

gfx = ground effects

The body moldings on the bottom of your doors, rocker panels, front, and rear bumpers. I like 'em

I used to have a 91 Firebird 3.1 with the same look. Mine was black.

Formys and base model Firebirds did not come with them, though they could be ordered with gfx from the factory.

hah hah, at first i wanted my black too. But the red doesent look bad, so i think i will keep it red, lol.

Wish mine had a 350, but i just ordered a full exhaust and i think with a few other things here and there mine can be better then the 350 [well at least a stock 350, lol]

I was thinking pulleys, cam, and intake manifold plus the full exhaust i got should put me in the 250ish hp range, maybe more.

Re: My new 1992 Firebird Formula

Although not rare per se, I can tell you I have owned my Bird for 10 years and have NEVER seen an identical twin to it in person. Over the years I have seen a couple online, for sale, whatever, but even then, only a few. I have been to hundreds of car shows, including the Southern Trans Am Regionals (STARS), and again never saw a twin. 92's are all very low production cars and with the W68 pkg. ours are probably in the hundreds when broke down to all options, colors, etc. so if I were you (especially w/low miles) I would not change a thing. If you do however, keep all the original parts to be able to return to stock later if you chose.
