From the group purchase board guidelines that Dirk set up...

GP Board Guidelines
Guidelines for setting up Group Purchases:

If Members would like to set up a group purchase, please post it here and/or contact one of the sponsors that have or might have the same or similar product to see if they would like to host the GP.

If they don't want to do the GP, or can't match the best price, then feel free to set up the GP with any other outside party.

We're not saying you can't do a GP with Company X for Product Y, we're just asking that you support the sponsors that support the site, if possible.

-Sponsors may post their own GPs. Non-sponsors may not.

-Active GPs will be stickied.

Your post is not a GP, just an ebay listing.

It is an ebay listing of what I would gladly turn into a group purchase for Thirdgen.org users. It was suggested that I put it on the group purchase board, but if that is a major problem, then remove it.

OR

Plus, according to that "or", contacting a sponsor is completely optional!!

You are correct about the "or" portion of the rule about sponsors however your posting is still an ebay posting and in no way does it indicate that if X number of people sign up you can offer a specified discount, which by the way happens to be the basis for a group purchase.

If all you want to do is let folks know about your ebay listing, then you should post in the Parts For Sale section.

If you want to offer a GP, then say so and indicate the amount of people you would want to participate for a specified discount.

Your kit places the fan switch in the water pump, so it's not exactly a stock replacement. If I were shopping for just a stock replacement switch, I would buy it here, http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=3.138.944.

Mine is MUCH easier to install than the factory replacement, I don't charge shipping, and with enough purchases, mine is much cheaper. I can't say that mine works better than these because I've never tried one, but I can say that it makes more of a difference than the water pump, fan motor, new radiator, radiator hoses and everything else I've replaced trying to fix the problem. Like I said, I can actually sit in traffic in mid afternoon on a hot summer day without the car overheating or even coming close to it. So far, everyone that has bought one is extremely satisfied. I figured that this would be helping people on the board, not screwing people.

Personally, I think a better option is the one that i have. It's a potentiometer swtich made by Hayden. It has a heat probe that comes off the switch and sits right up aginst the radiator and uses radiator temp for monitoring. Also, being that it's a potentiometer, there's a nice little **** that you can adjust up and down to pick your own temp that the fans come on. This also allows for you to install a 160 thermostat for better cooling which is what I'm running now. On the hottest day of the year, my car might run around 170-185 degrees and on decent cooler days, it rarely reaches 160 degrees. Some people say cooler gives you worse gas mileage .... I say my gas mileage sucks anyway and I'd rather the car run cool.
