New GP for Headliners
Re: Headliner Kit Group Purchase
There wasn't enough interest to reach the 10 order minimum on the last group purchase we did, and the previous ones struggled to reach 10 orders as well.
If someone wants to start a new thread and put together a list of interested board members, we will consider opeining up a new Group Purchase if it seems we can meet a 10 order minimum. However, we won't be able to match the previous GP pricing because our cost has increased twice since then.
Thank you,
92blue
TPI Parts stated if we had enough people they would think about another GP for headliner kits, if someone would start it. Well I will, I will put myself on the list first, if anyone else is interested please post your name

Re: New GP for Headliners
I am interested in getting the Headliner Set for my Hardtop. What will the new price be? Also it would probably be helpful if you could mention shipping costs without us having to complete all the shopping cart information.

I want 4.
Will probably only buy 1.
Might buy 2.
How's that for sitting on the fence?

Re: New GP for Headliners
I have sent a PM to 92blue to post details, because their is obvious interest in getting this GP off the ground.
Re: New GP for Headliners
This is starting to pick up momentum!
Its funny because yesterday I stapled the damn headliner in the back because it was sagging so badly. There is a shop here in jersey that redoes headliners. My aunt got my old 84 t-tops camaro redone using the same backing board the car came with and it was about 175 (sails and visors included and installed). I would however like an ABS one just because its probably more solid even though heavier then whats in there now.

Re: New GP for Headliners
Seems like there are a handful of interested folks this time around.
Assuming we reach 10 or more orders, pricing would be as follows:
Ttop Headliner, Sunvisors, Sail Panels Kit - $230
Hardtop Headliner, Sunvisors, Sail Panels Kit - $230
Ttop Headliner only - $156
Hardtop Headliner only - $156
Shipping within the lower 48 states is $60. Unfortunately, we will be unable to ship outside the 48 states.
I'd like to get some input on what you guys would like the GP deadline set to. I will post again later with finalized details on ordering, color selection, etc... I just wanted to address some of the questions posted here for now.

Re: New GP for Headliners
Wow shipping is a bit steep. Is it 60 bucks flat fee or based on location (NJ here). I have located a vendor online that is only 5 dollars more expensive and no group purchase required. The headers are all coming from the same place in California from my research.

Re: New GP for Headliners
The $60 shipping would be a flat fee within the US. Headliners ship in a box large enough for a man to stand, so its not cheap to ship. We don't make any money on shipping, shipping to the New England area costs us a bit over the $60 that we charge.
All new Camaro/Firebird headliners are made by the same company, so you receive the same product regardless of where you order from. The difference lies in the customer service you get with your order. This may not seem like a big deal unless you end up having a problem with your order, which is not a rare occurence with headlienrs.
Thanks,
92blue

Re: New GP for Headliners
I'd have to toss my hat in as a *may* be interested - depends in part on when the purchase would go through, and what the cash flow looked like at the time.
If it was happening soon, and the price was around $250-260 or so to my door for a kit, I'd be jumping in with both feet right now and have $ in hand ready to to. However, between shipping costs and the price itself (not your fault, EVERYTHING is getting more expensive) I dont really come out ahead compared to just buying one off flea-bay and not waiting for the purchase to go through....

Re: New GP for Headliners
What if i ordered 2, could you tape the boxes together and make it one package to cut shipping cost? i want a hardtop and a t-top headliner. If there is significant savings in shipping, i will order 2. That means we only need 8 more for this purchase to happen. I think there is enough interest.

Re: New GP for Headliners
KennyC, I understand your position. We are getting squeezed between the cost of products going up rapidly, and trying to offer competitive pricing. Not just headliners, its with just about everything.
Sorry, but the manufacturer can't tape two headliner boxes together and ship them that way.

Re: New GP for Headliners
What would help on shipping is the fact that some of us have more than one 3rd Gen in need of headliners....and the fact that some of us live close to one another. Getting multiple headliners shipped to one location would cut the cost for those willing to split the shipping to one location.
Those of us that did a GP in the DFW area (Dallas & Fort Worth, TX) saved lots on shipping because one guy (Jason aka XLR8TORZ28) was kind enough to get the GP going AND provide a single shipping address for all the headliner kits. AND YES, THEY CAN SHIP MULTIPLE HEADLINERS IN ONE BOX. If I remember right, I think it was 4 or 5 that would fit in one box.
It would be advisable to get a GP going for those of you in a certain city, town or general area to save on shipping to your location.
If the cost of gas and your time exceeds the shipping discount, just order your kit in a normal GP (AKA, this GP)

I might be in for a T-top headliner only.
Quick question... Are there any pre-cut holes in the t-top headliner? Im using 4th gen front belts and would rather not have that slit that the factory one has. Just curious if any holes are there for the visors and dome light and all.
Im going to contact you for some color samples.

When I got mine, the fabric covered up the holes for the visors, dome light and seatbelts. The ABS Plastic headliner does have the correct holes in case you need it....the holes are covered by the headliner material.

Re: New GP for Headliners
Just yesterday, we received notification from the headliner manufacturer of a price increase on headliners starting October 1st. This means retail pricing will be increasing as well.
We have decided to offer the GP with a lower minimum order quantity of 8 (instead of 10), and have started a new thread here... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/grou...ml#post3886149
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you,
