Re: 2055
Ill be ready. Cheapest price found is $450. I'd like at least a 10% discount from that. Meaning around the $400 mark plus shipping and taxes of course.
So if we can get these for $400 that would be awesome.
So yeah put me down for a set.

Re: 2055
well i got the headers back. no they did not do the inside, except there there were threads, and then they made sure that things fit.
i dropped them off on friday and they called monday to say they were ready to be picked up.
they look great, no runs or anything else wrong with them. frankly i would not have paid 100.00 more plus shipping to and from arizona just to get the insides done. but that is just me.
let me see if i can get the pics up for you.
and everything works. screwed in an oxygen sensor - no problem and did the same with the air fitting. no problem there either.
so far i have 325.00 into these and will probably not spend much more on the y pipe.

Either way the coating looks great and yeah, great great...Might go through them, after I get a quote from Jet-Hot for back and forth...as I have quoted myself before and if this GB falls through I should be able to still save some money over getting the coated set first because I need the tubes removed.

Re: 2055
i dont actually know when they were made. I did not even look.
I just made sure the CARB number was ok for the DMV here in cal and that is it.
I know they are pretty beefy and not junk. I got them from a different 3rd gen site, a guy was getting a new girlfriend and it was the headers or head, he sold the headers cheap.
and i forgot to indicate that there is a 3 years warranty on the coating and workmanship. so if i screw them up that is my problem.
They did a good job on everything that will be exposed to the elements.
not sure what the interior coating does though. but I dont plan to take them off and turn them insdie out and play in the rain.
keep in mind that i can just run them over in my car, you will still need to pay shipping - and i dont know what that is.

Re: 2055
nice looking headers!
Coating the inside of the headers would lower the heat inside the header. An outside coating will help keep the engine bay cool but won't keep the inside of the headers cool

Re: 2055
ill keep that in mind. but for now i just wanted to at least get the headers done on the outside. frankly, jet would have charged 250+ shipping for the headers and 10.00 a foot for the y pipe. too much for what i need.
thanks for the info.

Re: 2055
And thats how JetHot gets the 300* lower header skin temps. Someone on here stated they could touch their headers a couple of minutes after racing their car hard. Cant remember who but his were jet hot coated inside and out. I think Im still going to go with Jet-Hot. But I dont plan to coat my headers until the next winter or summer 2010. In which acid dipping will need to take place I'm sure.

Re: 2055
Being able to touch my headers three minutes after I turned off the engine is not exactly big on my needs list. Now that may be important to some people, and they can set their own priorities. Maybe it is a big deal for racers or other individuals, but all I want to make sure of is the engine compartment doesn't catch on fire.
I'm sure Jet does a great job people tell me they do all the time and I have no reason to doubt them. But what is most important to me is that the job is done in a professional manner, I don't have to ship it off someplace, I can drive 20 minutes and drop it off and get a call the next business day and telling me it's done, and the people who are doing it are major players with firms like Edelbrock and they know their business.
OK, Getting it at half the price is a big deal to!
I'm not saying using jet is wrong, it's just not for me at twice the price and six or seven times the time I can get it done here in LA.

Re: 2055
Any idea on what the total cost is going to run for the headers and y pipe? An estimate on the Jet coating would be helpful too. I'm looking to stay under $650 for everything if possible.

Re: 2055
jet will charge you about 250 plus shipping for the headers, which will bring it up to about 300.00 jet charges 12.00 a foot for coating the ypipe which has got to be at least 10 feet, measuring every pipes length, which will add another 120.00 plus shipping. so 150.00 for the y pipe would be about right. so you are right about at 400.00 for everything.
you will need to buy the headers though. they are not cheap.
i think you can get them already coated at http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku for 815.00.
it would not make any sense to use applied engineering if you not close to it here in socal. you can save a few dollars but your problem will be shipping, which you can still add.
i have not asked AE to do the y-pipe yet, so im not sure what they charge. i think they have a minimum and i probably should have waited and taken them all at once, but i wnated to see their work first.
i am going to take it down in a few days and ask.

Re: 2055
2055 GPers,
The price for uncoated 2055 Hooker Headers has settled to the same price at the parts stores. In fact, although I checked at different times and suggested good reasons to make this GP to us, there wasn't any budging at Summit, jegs, or Byunspeed.
Now if you're only ordering the 2055s then Byunspeed might be the way to go (shipping included and no more handling fees). I will say that jegs has the 16823 Hooker 3" exhaust I need, and it's at a really great price when compared to others -- check it out if you're looking for that exhaust. The low price on the 16823 Hooker exhaust more than covered jegs extra handling fee of about $10 bucks (no tax though).
I can't speak to shipping charges for Camaro/Firebird owners in Canada though.
Anyway, over the last month there wasn't any movement on a GP from these parts stores, and so at this time think it best for us to order seperately.

Re: 2055
It happens. Ill be buying mine next week then. Then having the tubes removed and welded closed. I'm still debating sending them out to be coated or to keep the hi temp paint on and just drive my car (will probably do that). Take care and hope everyone gets theirs.
Re: 2055
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...w-jet-hot.html is a link to a guy with hookers on this board for your proce range. for some reason he does not post the part number, maybe he wants to keep it a surprise, but ask him.

Re: 2055
Got mine from Summit, found a local online website selling them for $30 cheaper than summit, so all together I got my headers for list price at summit racing...
I ended up getting mine coated by a local shop who does work for Jet-Hot. But DID NOT get mine jet-hot coated. Mine are coated by a local coater who does the same process as Jet-Hot, but cheaper of course. Everything out the door cost me $200 cheaper than if I went with Jet-Hot themselves, and $100 more than if I went with the pre-coated 2055's from Summit. But mine are both coated inside and out including y-pipe, and tubes are removed. So to me it wasn't that bad of a deal, just took some time, and that's what sucked. Going on almost 2 month now for all the work involved.
