Re: 2055

Subscribed, interested, need more information.

I want the uncoated set because I am removing the tubes anyway.

UPDATE: JET-HOT said they will be making an order in another month or so. Maybe we can get a group buy on sets from them? Sets of the 2055, anything else is extra.

I can give them a call tomorrow and see if they'd be willing to go in on a group buy? See what we can get....at least.

great, maybe there will be a good group discount - here's what I got on Sterling finish (quote came in today) $195 for both headers + $20 per foot on y-pipe + shipping at $34 (10% discount on total)

Re: 2055

Are these only going to be available in coated versions? or can i get a bare metal/high temp paint set? $700 for headers = too much for my wallet.

Re: 2055

looks like there might be two different purchase needs - plain painted metal (coat yourself or install bare metal) and ceramic coated.

If everyone says what they are looking for we can go from there and see about purchasing then

Re: 2055

We should at least just get the group buy for the headers then after wards we can always get them coated.

Decide NOW. Because honestly group buys NEVER work when 2 different sets of the same part are wanted.

I don't want coated because I am having the tubes removed. So I would have to have them coated twice...not trying to do that.

I'm in as well, but like others i don't want the coated headers...just the cheapest price on these we can get.

Byunspeed has them for $459 shipped, so the GP must/should be 425 or lower.

Re: 2055

so far this GP has 4 now. If this GP ends up being small, then or those wanting coating, plain headers could be mailed from Byunspeed, or whoever, direct to Jet-Hot for those wanting coating. how soon is everyone looking at getting these -- is April ok?

Glad your keeping track, its your thread. But I will be going Steel, since I need the tubes removed and welded shut, then I will have them coated afterwards, but not for another year...I just need to start my car THIS YEAR.

Re: 2055

Might pick mine up this weekend. We need at least 10 orders for any group buy to happen, AT LEAST. I might hold off, but I do want to get my exhaust out of my way and get onto the intake side of it all.

BUMP

EDIT: Found new lower price. Well not found I knew about it, but found Hookers for $449.99. So group buy should be around $405 or lower. Thats a 10% discount.

Re: 2055

well, I said April because I was hoping for more to join in as four is a small GP. Also, it's still cold so I could wait (ride "big" scooter during late spring/summer/early fall)

I saw that price for the headers and just sent an e-mail asking if they would be willing ot work with a GP of 4 or more indivduals w/ a 10% discount.

you talking about Byunspeed? They also have free shipping so that would already take a chunk out of the price.

Re: 2055

Yesterday I sent a e-mail to Hawkins asking for a group discount but got a reject today. looks like the site is active but that's kind of a bad sign.

if byunspeed is throwing in shipping then that is good

Re: 2055

Depending on how deep the discount is, I'd be interested. I know the 2055 ceramic coated from Summit are about $800...which is way too much considering MACs can be had for around $500. So what is the estimated price after the discount thus far?

Also, I was wondering: if you get coated headers and decide later on to remove the AIR fittings, can you weld up the headers then? Or once they are coated it's over, don't touch them? Alternatively, can used headers be coated? Or does oxide and wear prevent coatings from them being applied well?

Thanks for the information.

Re: 2055

You can always have them re-coated. Its what I plan to do. I just want to start my car this year. Next year is cleanup loose ends time. Meaning getting my headers and exhaust coated and hopefully new floor pans installed.

Re: 2055

well, due to small response so far think we're gonna have to make this a plain steel GP.

To save some shipping costs, I'll have parts sent to direct to Jet-Hot instead of having them sent home (keeping the A.I.R. tubes).

We'd like to buy this month, but April is the latest that at least two of us in this GP want to wait for. keep checking back on this post, probably need to get at least 5 before a vender will lower the price & you'd be numba 5

I have a summit coupon that expires April 30th so thats the latest I am waiting. I am unsure this will go through, but we can still try. I'd like to see at least 10 people in the GB. So we still have some time.

I have posted the link to the GB in my Signature to hopefully get some more people in that dont frequent the GB section.

Good idea on the link! With all the 2055 discussion currently in the exhaust tech section I'm really surprised there are not more in this GP at this point. Early April is about as late as I want to wait. Anyone else have more ideas on getting this GP rolling faster?

Re: 2055

Is this a group price for jet coating our own 2055 headers? I have a new set - no i dont want to sell them - and before I put them on I want them coated. Jet just sent me an e-mail at 250.00 for headers but 12.00 per foot for the y-pipe. do you know how many feet are in a y-pipe? wow - that is expensive. I may just send the headers in.
but what kind of discount are we talking about? and can we order one at a time and then pay it ourselves and still get the discount?
pm with info and i will also see if I can get the thing to notify me with changes in this board.
thanks - tony

Re: 2055

H8 i just landed on this board. if you want that set for 317.00 then contact http://banditexhaust.com. i made them a low ball offer and they came back with the same set for 317.00, no shipping charges.

http://banditexhaust.com/catalog/pro...roducts_id=450 is the link directly to the system. it says 433 but give them an offer around 275.00 and they will come back at 317.00. i got the info from someone on this board that did the same thing. cant remember where though.

and i just found out that the mag 36019 cat - with a CARB number of D-193-8 is no longer legal in CA. OUPS. DMV wrote number down wrong, the correct CARB number is d-193-86 and IT IS LEGAL IN CAL. damn if they cant get it right i dont know how we are supposed to know.

here is the site for the new list of approved cal cats. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...xemptcat09.pdf

Re: 2055

I just came back from Engineered Applications. 4727 E 49th St Los Angeles 90058 2703, ph 323-585-2894.
they do the coating work for headman and edelbrock. decided i would give them a try. 150.00 for ceramic coating the hooker 2055 headers. jet wanted 250.00 just for the headers. if 3 or more go in at one time the price goes down to 125.00 per set.
they sandblast and coat.
jet wanted 250.00 plus shipping. so i figure driving over to them in 20 minutes beat waiting and paying for shipping.
they will be done on wednesday, and i will give you a little report. then we will see.
they apprear to have a pretty good operation, nice a busy, lots of good looking product there. got a chance to look at some of the finished goods, no blems, runs, etc. we will see what we will see.

Realize Jet-Hot coats both inside and outside of the headers. Does EA do this?

Re: 2055

wont know for sure until wednesday. they said they do, but i will have to see for myself.
im not all that hot to shrink my inside down, even the amount of a jetcoat. not sure if its worth twice the price to do it either. 250 plus shipping and waiting vs 150 for 3 days later and a 20 minute drive.
im old and time is one thing i dont have left.
actually i just wanted to give them a try, and see what they will do. heard from a friend at edelbrock that they do their coatings. not a good friend though - wont give me a discount on new heads. lol
and jet is probably closer to you than to me. you will still have to ship them.
AE is probably a good deal for the guys in so cal who are close.
just passing it along - i dont make any money off it.
did you check out bandit exhaust? very good price there.
but if the economy keeps falling everything will get cheaper.

Re: 2055

one of the the Jet Hot coatings has an extra long warranty (5 yrs or limited lifetime can't recall) Be curious to hear the AE warranty for their coating. Anyway, it's a nice price.

Re: 2055

i'm anxious to see what it will look like myself. for 150.00 i cant get hurt too bad, and if they do edelbrock and headman - they cant be that bad. i am pretty hard on things so if it lasts 5 years i would be pretty happy. I will probably regret it but i went with the pimp my ride chrome look. if it turns out ok then i will do the tpi i bought last year before i install it.
will take pics and post them after i pick them up. did not do the y pipe yet, want to see what it looks like first.
did you look into the price on the catback system. all stainless - that is one reason i want mag - and at 317 its too good to pass up.

Re: 2055

So, with the pair of headers, uncoated most likely + y-pipe, each buyer is looking at $317 shipped? I'm just a bit confused after reading thru the thread...

No sir, the hookers are around $450, while the magna SS cat back is $433.
HOWEVER, go to bandit and lowball them, they sell it (cat back) for $317.

Bandit used to have an actuall price of $317, so i called jegs and they shipped it to my door for 317 bucks

Something I must tell you, always check back when referring something like this. Their price is now $433.81.

Re: 2055

Holy, they like price hikes!
Quick question, the 2055 Y-pipe has a 3" O.D. exit correct? Because if i get this cut out http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku I would have to use a butt joint clamp like this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku to connect it to the Y.

Whats your opinion on butt joint band clamps?

no that is just the list price. go onto their site, there is a place that says "make an offer" or something like that. make the offer - i used 275.00. within an hour the computer came back and said you can have it for 317.00 - actually 316 and some change.
that is how the handle it.
give it a try. that is how i got the price down. the computer propably is set to send the reduced price.

Re: 2055

i just went down and measured it and the outside diameter is 3.0 inches.
and i like that link for the butt clamp - i think I will use them. that way I dont have to weld anything, if I dont have too. Now I can get the ypipe coated as there will be no need for welding.
but that performance cut out looks like what borla uses to direct a straight pipe to the passenger rear, except they have different fittings to limit the amount of exhaust and put more into the muffler.

I haven't used those clamps, but have seen them on exhausts for a cleaner look over the original clamps and such that protrude out a lot.

I see the make an offer section. Didnt know that. Cool. Sneaky kind of since the font color of the MAO is dark. Good catch.
