Seeking some advice/opinions
First, I'd like to say I'm relatively new to the D.Y.I. automobile hobby. I've been working on my Iroc for about a year now. I've got a 1987 Iroc with the 5.7 liter 350(L98) motor and t-tops. I'm learning as I go and you guys have been a tremendous help so far.
In doing some research I found some things I'd like to confirm. I'm assuming that I am running a 9 bolt Borg rear with 3.27's and rear disc brakes. Stupid question time: Does that mean I have four wheel disc?
I've also done some "non-stock" upgrades. I've gutted my gauge console and put in aftermarket gauges. I've ripped out my stock exhaust and installed a Hooker cat back system. I threw out the stock seats and dropped fourth gen seats in. I replaced all the grey plastic with black plastic. I modified and installed a set of Formula door panels. I put in aftermarket carpet. I recovered my headliner in black vinyl (soon to be black and grey). I installed a new radio. You get the idea.
Now, I looked up production numbers for this car. There were 3,452 Irocs made in 1987 (according to this site). That seems like a pretty low number. Combine that with the fact that the car was made at the Norwood plant and 1987 was the last year for Camaros at the "original" Norwood plant and it makes me wonder: Should I be keeping this car stock? Is it somehow going to be worth something because of these factors? Or, should I just continue along the path I've been going and just enjoy the hell out of this awesome car?
Here's what I got back from the Vin search:
Made in: United States
Manufacturer: General Motors
Make: Chevrolet
Carline Code: F-Body
Carline Series: Camaro (all models)
Body Type: 2 door coupe (hatchback)
Restraint System: Manual belts
Engine Code: 350 ci V8 B2L/L98 (1987-1992)
9 is the CHECK DIGIT
Model Year: 1987
Assembly Plant: Norwood
Production Sequence: 144210
Sorry to ramble but I know how much you guys/girls are into these cars and I'd hate to be doing the "wrong" thing here.
Thanks.
