Car: Red 87 IROC-Z28 T-Top
Engine: 5.7 Tuned Port Injection
Transmission: 700R4 Auto
Axle/Gears: BW 9-Bolt 3.27
Look on the RPO sheet in the console compartment. 85-87's with have RPO B4Z and Z28 and 88-90's will have just RPO Z28.

Does it look like and IROC-Z and does the int. say Z28 IROC-Z, or just Z28?? More information would be nice.

Car: 85 IROC-Z / 88 GTA
Engine: 403 LSx (Pending) / 355 Tuned Port
Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
All IROCs had a "Z28" badge on the door, and all 85-87 IROCs had Z28 badges on the ground effects and back bumper.

If it's an IROC, you can tell from the RPO tag on the center console lid. 85-87 will have the RPO "B4Z" and 88-90 will have the RPO "Z28"

looks like an IROC-Z and inside the car says only Z-28, no more numbers and all i've got is the car's serial number, a 17 digit alfanumeric.
anyway i'm buying it 'cause it really looks good, some paint work and 2 rust spots i can cut and patch myself (without being a professional body worker.
thanks guys for your imputs.
Fernando.

Car: 87 IROC-Z
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: automatic
Axle/Gears: 3.23
The interior badge on all Iroc's says Z-28 with IROC-Z underneath. If it's an 85-87 and it just says Z-28, then it's a Z-28 with a carberated 305. All 88-90 should have Z-28 with IROC-Z underneath.

Unless someone change the interior badge.

This is how the correct emblem should look.

Not necessarily true. Plain Z28s were available with TPI, it was not exclusive to the IROC.

Yup, until 87, Z28's and IROC-Z28's were available with the same engines. 85-87 the GFX says Z28, 88-90 it says IROC-Z.

The interior badge on TPI Z-28, 85-87, says Z-28 with "tuned port injection" underneath, in place of the iroc-z. If the above car just says Z-28, with nothing underneath, then my guess has an lg4 motor in it.

i got the car now and, the engine is a canadian 5.7, 86 up single piece main seal,
heads are 87, up 76cc, 1.94 / 1.50
inside says Z-28 cross fire inyection
the tranny is a nwc 1985 t-5 ( modifyed, they've cut a trully TOO BIG hole for the shifter), so this car is a kind'a frankenstein. by the sway bar (big one) i can say it is not an ordinary one.
i'll keep you guys posted.
Fernando.

The interior badge Z-28 with "cross fire injection" would make the car an 82 or 83 Z-28 originally with a cross fire motor

Car: '84 Z28
Engine: L69
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.73
And don't forget the L69 cars with the "5.0 Liter H.O." under the Z28 on the dash emblem. These being the '83-'84 Z28's of course.
