hi guys, a friend of mine has a camaro for sale, but on one side says iroc-z and inside says Z-28,
how do i know abaut what it is exactly by looking at the serial number?
is there somewhere i can go with this S/N to get technical info about this camaro? its a very fine looking one and i want it for me.
thanks to all.
Fernando.

looks like an IROC-Z and inside the car says only Z-28, no more numbers and all i've got is the car's serial number, a 17 digit alfanumeric.
anyway i'm buying it 'cause it really looks good, some paint work and 2 rust spots i can cut and patch myself (without being a professional body worker.
thanks guys for your imputs.

Car: 87 IROC-Z
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: automatic
Axle/Gears: 3.23
The interior badge on all Iroc's says Z-28 with IROC-Z underneath. If it's an 85-87 and it just says Z-28, then it's a Z-28 with a carberated 305. All 88-90 should have Z-28 with IROC-Z underneath.
Unless someone change the interior badge.

The interior badge on TPI Z-28, 85-87, says Z-28 with "tuned port injection" underneath, in place of the iroc-z. If the above car just says Z-28, with nothing underneath, then my guess has an lg4 motor in it.

i got the car now and, the engine is a canadian 5.7, 86 up single piece main seal,
heads are 87, up 76cc, 1.94 / 1.50
inside says Z-28 cross fire inyection
the tranny is a nwc 1985 t-5 ( modifyed, they've cut a trully TOO BIG hole for the shifter), so this car is a kind'a frankenstein. by the sway bar (big one) i can say it is not an ordinary one.
i'll keep you guys posted.
Fernando.

The interior badge Z-28 with "cross fire injection" would make the car an 82 or 83 Z-28 originally with a cross fire motor
