Is it a Berlinetta? Does it have power mirrors?

How do you know that it has never been painted, or had the nose cover replaced (possibly with one off an '87 or Berl in the same color)? Are you the original owner?

no power mirrors ok the nose has not been repainted becuse I was sanding it. the nose had been pushed back and and bent the fender so I replaced it. I contected the secound oner the one who brought it up from nevada and he stated the the dent in the nose and fender is from him rear ending a car and the paint is the same color as the paint code. Could you order custom paint from the factory. And it not a berl. becuse the vin whould say so I also have about ten mystery rpo's. oh and it still has the lower body strip from the factory

I've found that some (not sure about all) Black, Dark Blue & Maroon Sport coupes had silver (or gunmetal grey) headlight buckets.....
My black 87 SC has body colored mirrors and originally had gunmetal grey headlamp pockets as well as gunmetal rocker panels and white & red pinstriping, it seemed to be a pretty popular combo (atleast here) I've seen at least 5 other SC's with this combo

I'm sure I saw that color combo on an '86 and an '87, but I could be mistaken... I also seem to rememer reading somewhere that the Camaro came standard with black side mirrors but body colored ones were an option....
I have never actually seen a Camaro with the black side mirrors, always body colored ones.

I still think the parts have been replaced, especially since it is an early car. It was probably done by the first owner, and I would try to contact him/her if you can. If you can't, I'd put it back to black if you are concerned with originallity, else just have fun with it the way it is and not worry about it.

Here is a pic for CanadianCamaro of my '86 the day I picked it up brand new from the dealer. Black mirrors and headlight pockets:

I've seen plenty of 86s with painted headlight buckets. My blue 86 has silver headlight buckets to match the lower portion of the car. 100% stock.

Not the best pic, but you can see my headlight buckets:

Hmmm, that is really a new one on me. I have hundreds of pieces of documentation for '86, along with tons of factory photos, and have never seen any silver headlight buckets (other than the Berl) in any of them. I also looked at tons of Camaros in Arizona and Oregon in '85 & '86 before purchasing mine, plus I worked at Budget Rent-a-Car back then and we had lots of them in our stock.

Jim, are your rocker panels black or silver? I can't tell from the pic.

My rockers are silver. I had a closeup but recently removed it from my online account. I've been through the car a lot of times and have found absolutely no evidence of previous paint work, except for the krylon from the previous owner. The silver rockers and silver headlight buckets are original.

A while back when I was in college, I found another 86 that looked like the twin to mine. His was a sh!tbox too. Anyway, I didn't get right up to it, but I recall his having the silver headlight buckets too, although I can't be sure.

Maybee during the end of the 86 production run they switched over to the 87 color scheme and jim85iroc that sport coupe is the same looking as mine is it also a 5 speed. It seems that all of the dark colored 86 sport coupes got the silver accent
