highly optioned car with some RPO mysteries!!

I just bought a 1985 Black Trans-Am. This is my first post here. Does anyone know why the database didn't pick up a bunch of these codes, and does anyone know what they mean?? Some info on the car: It has a 350 Chevy implant but still retains its original tuned port injection and looks all original. This car was ordered with an obscene amount of options and you can tell just by looking at the car, it just plain looks MEAN. The lady I bought it from cried as she signed the back of the title. I told her its ok its in good hands and will be garage kept.

Sounds like a nice ride 85's RULE :hail:

Looks like you most of the goodies except the Recaro Seats, Performance Sound, Elect. Hatch Release, Locking Fuel Door, Rear Sunshade (louver).

Things you have that I dont:

Roof Console,Powe Locks, Tilt wheel (I wish i had tilt! You dont get in a Firebird, you put it on like a pair of pants!) and a 350

How many miles on her?

Here is a good example of a clean 85

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1839935739

The true meaing of the RPO codes can vary from year to year. For example a DX1 is not the same applique on and 84 and 85.

I have heard of different wheel colors for the N96 but have only seen 2, silver and gold.

Anyway enough rambling, enjoy the car!

Don

Your E7Z is really a; E72 : BODY LENGTH, INCR I8 INCH
Actually there is an E7Z rpo defined as: Sensor, Vehicle Speed, delete

both my 87 SC & 85 berlie (parts car) had this option

The engine has about 50,000 miles on it and the body i'm assuming has 166,000

Thanks for the very useful info.! I'll post pics in this thread as soon as i get them

The V73 RPO is listed in error as a fixed antenna which is a U73 the ....

V73 ~ US/Canada Vehicle Statement

.... is used for export purposes.

WS8 ~ Priced Order Confirmation

WS3 - FIREBIRD PERFORMANCE VALUE PACKAGE #2

And this is an extremely rare RPO but might explain why you have an insane amount of options.

ZR6 Special Unit - Show Car

........ Dude......... congrats.........

special unit show car???!!!!!

ZR6 Special Unit - Show Car
Yipes! thats cool!!!!

I'm getting ready to order some things from thirdgenresource.com but i'm sorta confused about this ::

81A : STRIPE COLOR, ACCENT, TWO TONE, RED/BLACK (91)

The car is black, the interior is black, the wheels are chestnut. And now I see that from the factory it had red/black stripes. huh?!? Now, as the car sits right now it has no decals whatsoever so somebody must have repainted or taken the decals off. So if the car is black/black/black why would it have black/red decals. The black part of the decal wouldn't show up. Does anyone have some insight on this?

thirdgenresource.com has this for sale:
85-86 Trans Am Stripe Kit 85-86 Trans Am Stripe Kit - BLACK with RED accent $229.00

and one last thing. how good are the new seatcovers from thirdgenresource? any recommendations?

Thanks ! Your looks good also Nice to see a pic fianlly

Last time I looked, ZR6 was for a Corvette CR5, It would be cool to confirm with PHS if you do indeed have a special show car !!

What is BV8 : ORNAMENTATION, EXTR DR HANDLE, LOCK CYLINDER?

I dont have that one

On your 350 mill, I have heard of a shortage of 305's at one time and dealers sometimes warranted the 305's with 350's.

I'm not sure but it might be some emblem around the lock cylinder and another emblem on the door handle

You should have on your Door handles: "FUEL INJECTION" decals. Thats what it might be...

It seems that all Firebirds & Trans Am's from 82-87 with some sort of Fuel Injection seemed to get these lables.

I have found them on:
Formula's, T/A's and Firebirds...

Its cool, I make "educated assumptions" most of the time too.

My worst was something like WS6 was an option on Formulas

I think I almost got banned after that one

The formula /WS6 thing...

Great thread. I have posted the RPO codes of my 1985 TA at this tread:

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=119969

An interesting comparison.

Re: highly optioned car with some RPO mysteries!!

I have a 85 Trans AM also with 88A - Gold/Black stipes on the RPO list but my car is dark blue with silver grond effects, RPO code WW2 - AERO PKG (SILVER METALLIC), how could the 88A be gold/ black with silver ground effects. When I brought up the 88A, the description ends with a (91), could it be that the color is only for 91 model year? I have looked and the car has not been re-painted or anything. The decals are silver. Please let me know your thoughts.
