Firehawk 1991-1992 info

Hi

I am gathering all available info about the 3rd gen Firehawks and I have a question about engines installed in those hawks.

From some sources I have leraned that last four Firehawks had the all aluminium engine that would be no 24,25,26,27 but the last one had the 350 ci dispalcement whereas the other three had 383, another version I heard from www.firebirdgallery.com - a white Firehawk targa no 25 one of one in arctic white is said to have a 366ci engine, what is the true version?? Are those three ( no 24,25,26 366 ci engines or are they 383?? ) . My second question concerns the green firehawk that was for sale on the SLP website. As far as I know there was only ONE green 3rd gen Firehawk ever made and this one belongs to Bruce from HAWK`s thirdgen parts - www.thirdgenresource.com. So who owns the green hawk that was for sale?? Or was Bruce selling his own?
In fact there is quite a mess with those 3gen Firehawks I even started calling them mysterious hawks, cause nobody know anything about them and the`re unfortunately my favourite birds )

PS: Does anyone know e-mail to Mike Wempe the owner of white Firehawk no 25 or to a guy that owns one of one Aqua Firehawk no 22 .

If anyone has some certain info please reply.

Best regards
Faceman

That's ALLOT of backward info. Read this page: http://www.TransAmGTA.com/Firehawk and let me know if you have any other questions.

BTW, Bruce owns the #24 Medium Green Metallic car and the #26 Aqua car is owned now by a a guy I know in San Bernidino CA and he just bought it from SLP in April, it's the only one with the 383. Green is a matter of opinion since there are 3 or 4 colors that one could call green.

One day as I was leaving my local mall I walked outside to see a metallic green firehawk praked right before my eyes! It belongs to a member of a car club, the S.W.F.B.C "southwestern F-Body Car Club." I was like OMG!!!!

Thank you for your reply.

Your website explains everything that I was curious about.

Thanks again.

I only wish that people who own these cars submit more pictures I only know Chris Gebhardt - Firehawk #10
And one collector in Switzerland that owns Firehawk #7, that I can contact and talk about their Firehawks I wish there were more...

I look for the pictures on #22 #25 and #26.

Your welcome. Yes please get as many pictures as possible. Bruce just sent me some pics of his car to post and the guy with #7 is sending me some of his car soon. I'd like to get a picture of all of them.

One of our Club members owned the Aqua Firehawk for awhile. He sold it before I joined the club so I never got to see it in person.

I know, thats why they used Formulas... Rumor has it that Ed Hamburger loved the looks of the formula so much that he wanted to make it perform like an exotic.

People with even a casual interest in High Performance Pontiac saw that one already... The ultimate 3rd Vert!
Anyway, I should think EVERYONE owning one should submit photos right here ASAP! Why the heck not show off those rare cars and document them for the people who really admire them?

I will show up with my camera video or pixel to shoot one anywhere close by me. I've seen fourth gens, but not too sure if I did see a 3rd here or not
BILL

PS- In other GM rarities, the 80s Vette ZR1s will have a nice historical presence down the line, as will the one and only 1993 Northstar Allante Cadillac. I noticed these are still selling at $20,000 or more...all of them just about.

Similar to mine, quite interesting, I had the GTA wheels on mine in gray. The car has had minor accidents and driven somewhat in the winter so it's got the blues but mine was gotten with 44 K miles and now is sitting just over 122K me thinks. Being a rare 350 TPI vert, I'm going to hope there's a snowballs chance in Hades to resurrect my Bird. The thing is running again after almost a full year just in time for winter again...luckily, VERY little snow right now hehehe

Re: Firehawk 1991-1992 info

found one of the firehawks down in GA, grey now, originally red. lucky enough to get it but i dont know which number it is. it does have T-tops, but only the white firehawk originally had T-tops, so aftermarket ones must have been installed. as has the back body panel, the owner said it had had a bad accident, so it had been replaced, as well with a 1992 spoiler. also some minor rust. but it's still a firehawk!!!

Re: Firehawk 1991-1992 info

Does anyone have documentation of locations the cars sold new?

I am looking for the car that sold new in Lafayette, IN, by Mike Raisor Pontiac. I can't remember the car number, looking for it also. I know the original owners name if that would help anyone, I can PM it.

I tried to buy that car 12 yrs ago, the dealer had bought it back from the original owner I knew. They wanted $50K for it, we couldn't make a deal.

I would like to find that car now, like to know where it ended up and see it.

Please PM if you can help me.
Thanks!

Thanks!
David Hamburger has that information, more complete than I. What I have I got from him. I do recall one was in fact sold in Indiana, all of my info is archived on a hard drive I have in storage. Best get in touch with David, maybe he will dig out his info for you.

I presume it still has the SPI label with RPO B4U on it and that's how you know it's a Firehawk?

Im surprised it was re'painted another color. Thats odd! Why would anyone paint a red Firehawk grey? Do you plan to restore it to original? Pics?

I'd bet big money its not a 91-2 Firehawk. Post up pix of the RPO codes.

Here is the solution, All 25 cars are in compnine.com, if you are willing just post your VIN and we will find out or not if it is one of the 25... I highly doubt it as they are very desirable and expensive. even wrecked one would have a lot of value because of the pieces and parts... The Transmission the rear axle, center console and intake would all be very valuable. As far as I know none have been totaled.

Ummm, only the ones with the B4U RPO would be in there, not all 25. Although their VIN might be in the database, they did NOT have the B4U RPO code.

I know it's nit-picking but I just don't want people reading this to get the impression that all the original 25 91/92 'Hawks had the RPO code.

EDIT: Also yeah, 1 has been totaled. The blue one in a shipping accident. It was repaired.

I had heard that but was never sure. I wonder how bad it was? I'd think it would take a chunk to "total" it..

Re: Firehawk 1991-1992 info

Well here's a story for you. I had a 1988 Formula 350 that I sold to a gentleman named Glen who at the time lived in Herndon, VA. I was, at the time living in PA. He told me he was an avid third gen guy. About two years later I called him to see if he would be interested in selling me my car back. He told me "no" (of course) but told me he had a 1992 Formula 350 (the one I own now) for sale. I drove from Chesterfield, Va to Lorton, VA where he had a small shop that he used to keep equipment for his commercial A/C company at. Inside his shop he had two Firehawks both Red. Both had roll bars or cages and I can't remember the numbers on them but they were both very real. I do remember him telling me about the aluminum hoods. Not sure if one had it or both. He also had a red Formula 350 that when I think back on it had to be one of the Carrol Cars because it had the Paxton in it as well as some of the badging. This guy was a striaght third gen nut. He also had my old car, a white 1988 GTA notchback, a 1992 Trans Am convertible and a couple of others. Not all there but elsewhere. Never thought to ask to snap a picture but he had some awesome cars.

T-towner Does not live in VA, so I suspect not. I know T-towner sold some of his cars a while back, so it might be the guy that bought some of them...

Re: Firehawk 1991-1992 info

Please forgive me for hijacking this thread, but...

After finding out about the 1991-1992 Firehawk years ago, I wanted my car to be a Firehawk "clone" since I really liked what the car came with.

I ended up buying the 1LE rate springs from a Chevrolet dealer, confirmed they were, threw on Bilstein shocks and struts, bought the Ronal R15 wheels from the factory, etc. At a recent third gen meet, my car did seem a bit lifted compared to a stock Camaro and Firebird. Looking at the Firehawk pics on the net, they seem to be riding a bit higher like mine. Is this how they are supposed to be?
