Convertable Numbers

Does anybody know how many IROC Z convertables were made in 89. I just purchased one as a true project (saved from the salvage yard) I know its not rare I am just curious.

Thanks

The Camaro White Book says 3,940 in '89

How rough is it?

I just purcdhased an '89 myself, if you decide yours is too big a project, or can't find parts, or find the motherlode of parts, or need help, let me know please.

Here's some links to mine:

Edit: N/M, I see from your site you'll bring it back to it's former glory!

Nice cars, all, especially the TTA.

Well its in bad need of a floor pan in the passenger side and the body is ROUGH........but not rusted.......the passenger door is all mud and will need replaced the driver side door has a small dent that I can pound out.........the good is it runs perfect and only has 75,00 miles on it and the interior is pretty good for red. Paid $2000 do you think I got a good deal?

Saywhut Yours is BEAUTIFUL I love the blue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for asking

Sounds like you got a pretty fair deal, if all it needs is body work.

75,000 mi. is good, real good!

Sherman & Associates has the floorpan, if you can't find it locally (junkyard), PN 699-46CR, $210

The door should be no problem.

You gonna hotrod it?

Oh yeah, thanks for the compliment, I just bought it the 9th, got lucky for once!

Brian-

I wish I knew more about the IROC-Z 'verts..... I'd love to have one to park next to my T/A 'vert. Production numbers nonwithstanding (I think they made somewhere around 1,500-1,600 bird 'verts in '91 and '92... the only two years they werefactory authorized), I firmly believe that both the IROC and T/A 'verts will be very collectible in the future.... V-8 ragtops fairly scream 'American dream muscle', know whut I mean? You can't beat the price you paid either.... wish mine had been a bit lower (paid $4500), but I'm glad I have it. Enjoy the Sunday drives to come!! Oh yeah... post some pics!!

Saywhut-

That is one badass 'vert you have there! I'd love to see more of it...

Floor rust huh? That doesn't suprise me, I think that is common for well used 'verts. My 91' is nice, except for the paint, but it is rusty under the back seats due to a leaky top. I plan to just cut what I need out of junkyard car rather than buy aftermarket sheetmetal. IMO factory first, aftermarket as a last resort. Good luck, BTW, how about some pics of your find.
