car situation?

I bought a 1991 rs camaro 2 months ago and It needs a paint job and a new exhaust on it, and a tranny rebuild. Now I am thinking more and more that I wish i would have bought an L98 car but I could not afford it? I am a college student who is on a budget what should I do. Keep my rs for maybe a few years get it painted? buy an L98 car this upcoming summer. I do have a friend that would sell me his engine for 800 dollars, he has a 305 tpi engine that runs 14.5 in the 1/4. What do you think I should do, get my rs fixed put shift kit in it? keep tranny stock? sell the car? or what should I do?
1. Keep Rs drop Tpi engine in it
2. Sell Rs and buy L98 car
3. Mod Rs and sell it and buy L98

Re: car situation?

Modding an rs, or any car in general, is never a good idea if you want to sell it. If you can't do the labor yourself you should just sell it a buy an L98 car.

I agree....but in my opinion, it all depends on what you plan on doing with the car. I only have the LG4 in my car, and it's plenty of fun for what I need it for. Sure, it would be great to have an L98, but would it really make a difference in the basic street cruising that I use my car for? Probably not. It's got plenty of volume & plenty of torque for my liking. Now if I planned on taking it to the track, i'd definitely want an L98. I think going out of your way to get an L98 just so you can say you have a 350 is sorta foolish.

Now lets be realistic, L98's aren't all that fast, when they were new, yea they were fast but after 100K they aren't what they used to be. Most 6 cylinder japs can blow them away. I had an LB9 before and the L98 is only a second quicker in the quater.

Just my opinion, don't kill me for it
