New to the board

Hey guys
Got my car a couple months ago and have been using other boards for a while but i know this one is supposed to have the best resources!
I drive an 87 Camaro, and I honestly don't know if its an iroc or a Z28...A could use some help identifying it. The engine isn't orignal anymore but it used to have the LG4. I am thinking this engine never came in an iroc but not sure....trying to clarify some things. It was at least an iroc clone as it has the iroc dash badge, and the iroc door decals. It doesn't have a front sway bar, so that can't be used to identify anything, but i just bought one from an iroc on ebay. The car has all the ground affects and says z28 behind the front wheels. It also says Z28 on the rear bumper and on the black front license plate mounting bracket in very small letters. The reason i'm unsure is the interior is from another car and the console RPO sticker is ripped off because of this. Are there any ways to determine what the car truely is?
The Current Setup:
Its an 87 Camaro and at least a Z28, 3in cowl hood
Originally the gray metallic color, its now white.
T Tops, Gray leather interior out of a later Z-car
GM crate 350 modded with 10:1 compression, aluminum heads, really aggressive cam , aluminum intake, holley 750 cfm double pumper, Long-tube headers running straight into dual cherry bombs exiting under floor(loud as hell), 14inch open element.
built 350 THM trans, 2800-3000 stall.
Ran a 12.8 1/4 mile but i don't have the slip to prove it, the previous owner has it somewhere though...haven't been to the track enough to get my own run that fast as i have only run it once. I was so damn tense my first and only run that i spun tires for so long it wasn't funny and then let off way before the end because i had no idea where to start slowing down . Still managed a 14.6 (i do have that slip though lol)
Any help would be much appreciated

Just remembered, its got the iroc grid tail lights too.

Irocs had same color ground effects, and grid tailights were available on z28 and irocs.

the ground effects are the same color but the car was repainted anyways so that wouldn't help lol
The headlight recesses are white and not black but once again its the repaint...what cars had them body colored and which ones had them painted black anyway?

Is it the original paint? If so my bet is it's a Z28.

no its not the original paint, i did say that in both of my posts though. lol...thanks anyways. It was originally metallic gray and i believe the new color is linen white. If it was the original paint, whats your logic behind "I bet its a z28"? just curious

Without the RPO codes, you'd need to rely on what's on the car... since yours is so heavily modified, that's going to be tough too. Your best bet is to bring the VIN to a local dealer and try to get them to print you a list of the original RPOs.

Wait a minute... if you can snag a part number off the steering box, you can probably verify it that way (assuming that the steering box is still stock). The IROC box was different than the Z28 box because of the 16" wheels. At full lock, the Z28 box would cause the wider IROC tires to rub, so they used a box that didn't allow the wheels to turn quite so far.

You could also check for the wonderbar, but if your sway bar is gone, the wonderbar probably is too.

If you still have the Tire size decal on the driver's side door, you can tell if it's an Iroc or Z28. The iroc will have the p245 16" listed and the z28 will have the p225 15" listed.

thank you both.
I am curently 7.5 hrs away from my car but my friend who lives across the street from my house can run over and check for me. That door idea is really great, i just hope its still on there after the respray...i don't know though. My 16" iroc rims don't rub anything when i turn the wheel all the way. Oh, btw, i have the metal drums in the back. Was the aluminum standard on irocs or just an option?
Thanks
J

Should be on the lid cover, though mine aren't there so I don't know.

i do have iroc wheels but they, of course, may not be original. I have had my car next to another one, which happened to be an iroc, and mine was taller, but there is also the possibility of having drag coils on this car too! there are many many mods on the car and i didn't do them so im still figuring it out. I know irocs did sit lower but this car was quite a but lower than mine, ie an inch, of course his could have been lowered.

Question: Is your front suspension extremely tight and your rear pretty loose? for example, while testing shocks aka pushing down in the front, my car goes no where, in the back though i can push it down pretty far. Tell tale sign of anything?

I now realize i have two threads going that are almost the same but in different sections. the other ones in appearance
