word has it.

now knowing that i go to michigan tech, a college which is closely sponsored by GM, Ford, and Chrysler. we often hear of things.

anyway i was talking to one of my friends who was speaking to one of the engineers at GM. and from what he told me was that they are starting to design alot of parts for a 5th gen camaro, due out 2005.

from what i can tell, it will have the engine that is in the vette right now, and the whole car will be a new design.

i know this is not theoretical street racing, but i thought some people may enjoy it.

Well, that sounds just like a how a typical rumor starts.

I have heard all sorts of stories like yours about a new generation of fbodies and also the C6 vette.

My guess is that there will indeed be a replacement car for the fbody (GM would be stupid not to), and also that the new C6 will be awesome, but if GM wanted us to know about it, we would!

GM is very good at keeping secrets.

That would be awesome if the Camaro came back, although from what I "hear", the Firebird is gone, just as long as they don't bring it back as a FWD or anything "sedan" like. What would be even better if, when they brought it back, they could be a lil more affordable for the average Joe, then, and only then I think, will the muscle cars reign supreme again.

I like 92CAMRORS's comment about affordability. Most fast cars now are very expensive. GM needs to make a camaro that purposely comes with the most powerfull engine, and has none of the "extas"(like ac, power doors, power hatch, or anything else that is just excess weight, and will probibly not work in 15 years anyway). Technology is great, but too much of it in engines just makes the price of modding outrageous. They need to come out with a new ls6 berlinetta or something like that, that could really rule the street for an afordable price.

my hatch works still... and ive had the car since i was 3 yrs old.... im 18 now... do the math hehehe yea... that would be awsome... come out of college, and go down to the nearest GM dealer.. and say... how do i go about gettin one of thoes.... hehehehe hopfuly they keep it around 22-to 28k... thats not bad for a 360hp killer.... the hp might even be more then that... but gm is gunna have all this stuff u can add on, like power this, 12 disk that, 500w this, leather that.... i dont want that... i would like AC and at least a CD player... i burn so many cd's not to listen to them in my car... and i want it to be fast... nice V8.... and i want it power at the rear... going through a 6spd... ahh... cant wait!

If you want the hot engine for a great price, you have to sacrifice all the extras to make the car affordable.

THe 98-02 models had the vette engine. Ever see the RWHP dyno numbers? meeting or beating regular vettes. Now Z06 is a different story.
