Cross Fire Fuel Injection?
How many Camaros came with this? I know Corvettes had the Cross Fire fuel injection also...did it only come on 82 Z-28's or was this option on some later 3rd gens?

between camaros and firebirds, any part of the setup should be seamlessly interchangeable. vette is its own ballgame.

very weak setup unless you plan on spending a lot of time and money to put spacers under the tb's and between the base intake and top plate, bore out the tb's bigger injectors, custom chip, and so on........still only flows at most 600cfm. any questions on this set up try and find one of the crossfire discussion boards. I had this setup on my 82 z28 huge difference when the aluminum intake and edelbrock carb replaced the crossfire unit but then this is only my .02

The main reason they're "weak" is the intake manifold had really low bandwidth to minimize horsepower since TPI was coming out the next year (i'm talkin vettes, 84-85) and was supposed to be GM's new wonder.. but there are aftermarket crossfire intakes that have higher bandwidth for better flow and when modded up have outran L98's. CFI is rare, I'd suggest keeping it. just my 0.02.
the 82 Vette setup is the same, the 84 had a different air cleaner, otherwise the same. I have had the system in both Camaros and Vettes; it is not a bad system after fixing a few inherent flaws in the design. The first is the fuel pump. Swap in an 85 Vette TPI pump (easier said than done in a camaro/firebird). Swap out the computer to a 7747 ECM (most commonly found in 87-94 GM trucks and Astro vans), and port/polish the intake. The intake ports are not large enough at all. I had an X-ram on my 82 Vette, it made a big difference (Weiand aluminum intake with a custom made upper). The system works very well when it works. Just my $.02.

"I always thought they were called missfire for a reason."
or better yet "cease fire"
iroc22,
that is the problem with the system unless you cut the top off of the inner runners and build them up and then replace the top,(which the average mechanic isnt going to do ) there is not much you can do with it.( i read an article a while back where this was done.) I drove one for 4 years before i got rid of it. mine was one of the few that was quite dependable thru 180,000 miles, but performance potential just wasnt there.

you can try to locate an X-ram intake, which is an aftermarket intake with a custom fabricated upper. I loved the one I put on my 82 Vette. It made a world of differende. Check the crossfire boards, they will know what it is.
