I have seen one in a dark green colour and it looked great. makes me wonder why it was not a factory colour option. I believe initially bright red, blue, pale yellow, white, silver and black were available.I think in 86 or 87 silver was dropped and grey was added, then yellow was dropped at the end of the 87 model year, oh yeah a brownish red was also available,I'm not sure what year it was introduced though. I'm probably forgetting a colour or 2.

thats the pic that I seen before. It looks great. I think the guy that painted it that colour sold it soon afterwards.
thats a very sweet car!!!!!
wonder why they never made a green IROC. maybe save that color for the RS and SC.
one stupid question, did the colors ever reflect the cars that raced in the IROC races in those years? you know, no one raced a yellow IROC so no production yellow IROCs???? or green ones....

What do you mean there were no yellow IROCs. There were quite a few from 1985-1987. They were discontinued in 88. As you can see, the owner of this car wasn't too pleased with the color!!!

I know there were yellow IROCs,
why did they stop making them in 88?
come to think of it I don't think I ever saw a yellow 4th gen, maybe it just sliped my mind because it is 2:00 AM.

Here's a theory....I think the last year for the IROC was 1990, correct? As far as I can remember, green really didn't become popular again until the early '90's. That might be why only the '91-'92's came in green. But, like I said, just a theory.
There is a green Iroc in my town. it looks just like the one in the pic. The exact same shade!! Could it have been a dealer option or something? I know that dealers made some modifications of there own. Like for the monte carlo some dealers dropped in a 350 uppon special request and some made convertibles. No monte came from the plant with a 350 or a vert. So just something to think about.

The yellow was dropped after 1987 because it didn't meet a certain percentage of production. I think it was 3 or 4%, not sure.

could they have not made one in green because green was never a lucky color on the ractrack? I remember a discussion about the green racecar contraversy on the radio on the way home from indy this year.

I know they did make a green (dark metallic, like the picture of the IROC) Z28 in 1997, a friend has one that he is the original owner of and has never repainted it.

Could they just have been experiments? Like a few cars just to see if the puplic will like them?

Oops! I meant 1987! He has a 1987 Z28 that is dark green metallic. Orig. owner, orig. paint. Has the infamous peeling clear coat to prove it!
