1987 Iroc body.. what to do?

I purchased the shell of an 87 Iroc to rebuild as part of my trying to become a mechanic.

So my question to you guys is what should I put in it. Thisis my first attempt to restore a car.

Take care of all the rust and body work and s**t since you have it torn apart first. Unless there isnt any, then youre pretty lucky.

Is that the same one that was on Ebay a little while ago???

GOOD LUCK!!!

It is NEVER any fun picking up on someone elses project. It would be A LOT cheaper to buy one that runs and just fix it up a little at a time.

This may sound odd .. but I would go out and purchase another Iroc around the same year as yours and build one car between the two. I am finding even using ebay that it costs a lot to purchase individual parts (just check out the price of GFX you will need).
Also, find someone near your home with the same type of vehicle. It always help to go have a look at their car when you are confused how to install something.

Good luck and take your time. I am looking at 3-4 years on mine.

I have an 87 Iroc that runs lol.

Yes it is the one on Ebay, I am IrocuBabe on ebay.

I am hoping to be able to get this one to look as nice as mine does. I know it will probably take a few years... of course seeing as how I have no life and only work 4 times a week it could take less.

If youve got that much extra time, and really need the practice, feel free to drop a crate into my camaro.

Well, if you wanna do it up nice, drop a 383 stroker in there. What do you wanna do with it, though, Crystal?

Agreed, if you want to be a meck-can-ic as you say, start with a bare block 350, and build a 383 stroker. It will not be cheap, but at least you can say you did it. It would probably be less expensive to buy a crate 350, but how much fun is that

res·to·ra·tion n.

1. An act of restoring: damage too great for restoration.
An instance of restoring or of being restored: Restoration of the sculpture was expensive.
The state of being restored.
Something, such as a renovated building, that has been restored.
Restoration

As it applies to cars, a restoration would be to return the car to completely stock. Which in this case far too much of the original car is gone to truly restore it. You could find all original stock parts on various junkyard cars and rebuild it to how the factory built it, but technically the numbers won't match.

You could also rebuild the car with whatever parts you want and make the car anything you want, but it wouldn't really fall under restoration.

Drop a cage, driver's seat, fenders, 9" rear, a 502" Big Block with a 300 shot and a transbrake equipped Turbo 400 and have fun!

Okay well then I don't plan on RESTORING it to what it was before, when I said restore I meant bringing it back to working condition, not factory condition. I think I've decided to make this car into a more of a race like car then a daily driver, so that is what I plan to do with it Tom
