Yep, I own a Fireterd and a Formula. I daily drive the terd which is great because I'm always reminded of the fast one. Sometimes I get confused which one I'm in and try to race people.

if it's in good shape and you can get a good deal on it, then go for it. you may have to wait a while to find a true '92 GTA due to the rarity of them. and if one does happen to come along, you can always ****** it up too
There's nothing wrong with owning multiple thirdgens... Currently I've got an 86 T/A, a 91 Firebird, a 91 Formula, and a 91RS. My only complaint is that its difficult to make any progress on any one car when there are three others that could use a few things here and there.
As far as T/A vs GTA... Who cares? if its got the options you want then go for it, if you want the badging that says GTA then hold out for a GTA.

underdave.... I'm assuming your name's Dave..... you've got my car!!
Seriously, my name's Dave as well, and my 'vert is a T/A, but danged if they don't look alike...
As far as the topic goes, I've got my T/A and a second gen firebird... why not own two? Double your pleasure, double your fun....

more than one
I had two back in the mid 70's
67 RS Ragtop 327 Powerglide
76 Camaro Lime Green Metallic only option was rally wheels
At the same time my immediate family had these:
69 Firebird
74 Camaro
67 GTA Mustang
I currently have a 90 IROC Convertible in the Garage.
The most fun was the Rally Sport, and that's where it all started. Wish I still had it.

I have my T/A to play with, and an 84 2.8 camaro as a daily driver. It was cheap, and is much better than driving a honda around. My father has a 67 with a 454, so the garage when I came home had all 3 fbodies in it. My mother has a 69 vette vert, one uncle has a 01 3.8 camaro, and another has a 67 with a 327 and a powerglide. I hope to soon add a 2nd gen project to the mix. Beleive me, my mother is pissed.
As you can see in my signature, I own four 82 Z28 Indy Pace Cars.
I know there are many others out there MUCH worse than me....
If one is good, two is better, three is even better, but four or more is the best!!!

Hmmm....I've got ten!!!! Which, I can tell you, is really too many!!! However, you definitely need more than one. I'd say four is a good number.
I have a 91 TA Convertible & a TTA. I like them both the same. The convertible is great for cursing on nice summer days & the TTA is great for cursing those hot summer nights. I will try to keep both of them but I know some day one of them has to go because I want to buy another car & I only have a 2 car garage. I might go for a 82 Collectors Edition Vette or a 71 Stingray. Hard to find either one near NYC for around $13k. Then I was thinking about a 84 15th Ann TA or 79 Bandit or a 81 Z28 or..... Not sure yet.

I owned 2 for awhile...an '89 RS along with my Z, sold the RS, 1 month later bought the Formula, and kept that for about 4 months. I can't wait til the GA is paid off so I can FINALLY get a damn IROC!

Go for it! I would rather see somebody who cares about these cars buy them up then let some turd who doens't care own it and abuse and neglect it. I have two: 1987 Trans Am and a 1992 Trans Am Convertible and I wouldn't get rid of either. If I save up enough money, I'll probably buy a third (TTA).
well i owned a 1988 formula 350 and then when someone hit me and wrecked it, i still drove it for awhile and i bought my 91 formula 350 and drove the both for a short period..
i am always interested in buying another firebird

I am in the automotive business and specialize in thirgens. We have 20 of them at this time and I just want more. Some are for parts, some need work and some are nice. Most of them run and I drive them all with the dealer plates, its great nothing like a diffrenet third gen to drive to work and then a diffrent thirdgen to drive home every day of the week. Plus we always have a few customers cars around. Todays total is 24 thirdgens at the shop
I would go for the 92 T/A. They are really nice cars and rare compared to other t/a's. I am actually looking at a 1992 L98 CC1 black GTA, yes I checked codes. But the deal is he has three thirdgens and he wants me to take a package deal. No prob, The GTA and a 91 RS 5.0 5-speed, CC1, good driver and an 88 Convert Iroc-Z with 90-92 dash, 91-92 GFX, 85-87 Iroc wheels polished, 350 swaped for 5.0 with TBi and 5-speed, bright yellow, nice top, some rear body work. The car looks nice as a driver. Problem, The Convert was a salvage, Repo, he has no paper work and can't get a tittle. He put the car together with parts he had laying around and just picked up the shell from a junkyard. Now he has a decent car that can't be sold or registered. I could just dealer plate it around or part it out. I just don't know. He wants one price for all three or 500.00 for the convert by itsself. The GTA has to go with the RS. Decissions- I could have 23 soon, still not to many.
