i need a number for the bulbs that go in the third brake light of a '91/92 firebird convertible (also the same as the IROCs with the brake light in the decklid). i have one out but can't find the bulbs at any parts stores (maybe they're just out, i don't know) so i can't even get the numbers for the bulbs. so help.............

They do sell them at Smucks but for like $10 a bulb

 

They are the same bulb thats used in several cars of that era, like camaro's, regals, etc... Last time I looked, they were like $14 a pop, so you probably don't want dealer part numbers.

 

if they are the same ones that are on teh camaro third brake light, yes they are about 10 bucks a peice and you need five.

BUT... if you go to radio shack, they sell an basicly identical bulb for $1.99 do a search and you will get the radio shack part #, chances are you will have to call around to find 5 of them, i ended up going to 3 radio shacks to get a total of 5 for my camaro.

 

I agree, take a sample bulb with you to Radioshack and buy them for a $1.99 ea and not that dealer inflated price. Note! since these are halogen blubs, don't touch them with your bare fingers when installing them.

 

The expense is cause they're halogen. I'd say get em from a good parts store or a dealership. Radio Shack stocks garbage, and you're likely to end up with a bulb that makes too much heat and could melt the lense.

 

i found some halogen ones at advanced auto for like $3 a bulb (and yes, they were the right ones).

anyways, i didn't need them, because i got to looking at the bulb and it still looked ok. so i put it back in and it worked. guess the connections came loose............lucky me :lala:

 

Been using the Radioshack halogen bulbs for the last six years.
And on the heat subject, yea they will get hot and melt the brake lens if you use the brake pedal for a foot rest.

 

i've also had the radio shack bulbs in for 2 years, no problems what so ever.

 

do NOT run the radioshack bulbs!!!

I picked up mine (correct sylvania ones) at Advance for about $7 per bulb.

 

Buy mine at NAPA for @ $8 apiece.... original bulb number
