What engine in camaro?
Hey everyone i was at school today and saw a cool camaro. It was yellow and had boyd coddington wheels. I know it was the older body style without the scoops. Well anyways i look inside, it had an automatic. It also had rear disc brakes. I think it was an iroc. I just wanted to know if this camaro has a 350 or not. the tach red lines at 5500 rpms, and the speedo goes up to 145, any help would be appreciated.

Dumb way to tell if it was a 350
Square shift ****. Look at the Vin Number. All Auto's had a square shift **** for some model years. Joined: Jul 1999

From 1987 thru 1992, that is. There is a database out there somewhere that states that only 350 cars got the square shift ****. This is totally incorrect.
The 145-mph speedo and 5,500 redline tach were used on all 350's and some 305's with a 5-speed. Based on the fact that this car is an auto, I conclude that it is a 350. But the best and only conclusive way to tell is to look at the VIN (as stated above).

For all we know, it could have a 400! The car's obviously been messed with i.e. yellow paint, Boyd rims. VIN will say, at least, what it was. The only "real" way is to check under the hood.

yes it did have a square shift ****, but that means nothing, for awhile all auto cars had that shift ****. Anyways i took a good look at the rear brakes, they were much bigger than the front. I think it could've been an 89. Thats the first year the rear disc brakes were 11.65 inches. I was guessing its probably a 350, because i think all 350s had rear disc brakes. Yeah i was reading in the history and it said all TPI 350 camaros had a yellow at 5000 and a red at 5500, and thats what this car had. I'll try to take a picture of it next time i'm at school and i'll post it.

Oh and by the way just becuase it was yellow doesn't mean it was necessarily messed with. They did make yellow camaros, although this yellow in particular was custom picked.
