Hi Jay,

Normally, we don't allow classifieds to be posted on the boards. I say "normally" because I will make exceptions for rare and unique parts; parts that make a particular F-body unique, one that has a degree of history attached to it.

The 1987 Camaro convertible was labeled the "20th Anniversary Commemorative Edition" model. Only the original 263 Sport Coupes and 744 Z28's got this label and map pocket. Considering a total 1987 production run of 137,760 Camaros, that's less than one percent!!

In my opinion, this piece holds historical value as it signifies the unknown anniversary edition Camaro. This is the only anniversary Camaro was not not publicized and because of this, most do not know it ever existed.

To assist others in understanding what this piece looks like, I've attached a pic.

There's plastic push pins holding it into the dash--just pull off the old one and replace.

Hi

I hadn't seen this thread before but was just noticing some more odd points about my car I need to ask about and even though my 1989 350 TPI Formula ASC convertible has the passanger pocket, it's open on the top with no flap. It's hardly mint shape anymore but I also saw some doors on eBay w/o the side door pockets as well. Mine has them on both sides. How many did or didn't have them?

There is a plaque and hole beneath the dash pocket that reads STILLWATER DESIGNS. Maybe they did the custom paint but I think I got a receipt with the car stating different.
There is also a strange female pin in the center box that I thought was for a cell phone hookup but have no idea. It comes out of a hole in the back bottom. Any ideas from just this bit of info?

Bill

Notes:

1) Every 1987 Camaro convertible came with the "20th...." map pocket.

2) This is the only third generation CAMARO to receive a map pocket of any kind.

3) Map pockets are common in Firebirds. I do not know Firebirds well enough to say they are included in all or just some models.

Re: 87 convertible pouch neeeded

Finding one would be a challenge... However like I mentioned in the convertibles thread you posted, you might try ebay...

With that said, the pocket looks almost identical to the one I have in my car

I think the metal corners were originally on it, but when my upholstery guy remade it with the stitching, He did not want to use them again... a pain in the butt to get them to work... He said he could do it, but it was not worth it in his opinion.

This is from an 83 Trans Am BTW

Re: 87 convertible pouch neeeded

Thanks okfoz but I don't even have one to remake so the 20th a anniversary graphics would be an issue getting reprinted do you think that is just screen printing or what would like to know exactly what it is so if I do get all the info and go to a upholstery shop I can tell the what and how it is made thanks for commenting any other help would be greatly appreciated thanks, Aaron

Re: 87 convertible pouch neeeded

A good & reputable screen printer should be able to do it... Their inks are usually (or should be) very good quality and should work... If you could get someone to take a really good picture of the emblem, they should be able to duplicate it for you...

I would like to see a quality picture of the logo personally.
