convertible weatherstripping
I need to replace the weatherstripping that goes under the back edge of the tonnaeu cover. It's in bad shape and my trunk is filling with water in the rain. I have already done the trunk seal and it didnt stop the leak. Year one or hawks don't list it. Any part number, name of a company or Idea would help. thanks

My 1989 ASC converts' stripping along the driver door seam (on drop top cover, has come unglued and torn so I relate. I found a source on eBay that may have what you need...unfortunetely it's in my car as well. Check eBay, even though listings fall under a lot of catagories, special items do comeup. I'll check my info.
The stripping above door jams is pretty spendy. Also along top roof seal (windscreen area). I'm relatively sure they have listings for the stripping on the back sealing area of convertible top, but I know that's not the location your talking about. Mine is a 1989 Firebird Formula.

I use two very thick towels I got for Christmas and two Absorber Choimois [sp?]
I have a large crack in the plastic rear window due to snow and brittle age of it, along with shrinkage that occured due to water I'm told. I'm still scouting prices and parts, but money has been extremely tight due to the war and economy. Sounds like you'll have better luck when you isolate the problem area.
I haven't had a problem with my trunk collecting water since I isolated the window as the source and catch the water before it makes it's way to the trunk. My back seats take a hit though. No one sits back there, luckily

I've been looking on eBay to find parts to save cost over a local full estimate at an interior detail shop. I bought a replacement taillight from a third and fourth gen supplier. They have factory and third party parts and say they can try and help above and beyond. I've lost track of the catalog they sent, so I can't recall right now, but I'll see if my email from them is still around. Let me know what part of the car you think is the current problem.
Is it the cover for the convertible top only? I was able to get clear plastic from my folks and only need to cut and tape to my offending area to patch my leak, however, that's only a temp solution, like the towels and Absorbers. They work extremely well though. Even though my towels got quite damp, they kept much water from the actual interior and I can remove them and let it dry in sunlight.
Any suggestions against mildew, I probably need though.

I actually have a bent cover lift arm so I can't open mine to confirm it, but the source I went to should have it. I need weatherstripping that goes on the door/window where the convert top pulls up (along the driverside door) The weatherstripping used on the metal canvas top frame tends to leave deposits (slowly breaking up, I gather) when wet and seperated. The cost I found for myself is $200 plus IIRC.
I have to find the catalog the parts supplier sent me to check, but they cover both Firebirds and Camaro and GM made Camaro converts longer then the F-Birds, so I think some parts are identicle, from what I've seen. From data here, it does appear there are some changes over the years (late 80s/early 90s)
