rear disc/ my IROC

I recently bought an '87 IROC off Ebay and am going to be picking it up on Saturday.

It has 305 TPI, 700R4, Ttops, 145mph speedo, 16" IROC wheels w/gold trim (specific to car color), and all options.

The one thing I have yet to find out is if this car has rear disc brakes or not.

Does any of the above sound like a car that was more than likely optioned with rear disc? I have yet to see the RPO sticker.

Also, does $2400 sound pretty reasonable for this car?

Thanks

Could really go either way, but it sounds like a pretty "normal" Iroc to me.

Did most IROCs have those options?

I haven't seen a LOT, but most of the ones I've seen that have rear discs have at least TPI and most were Ttops.

You'll have to ask. Not all IROC had rear discs.

$2400 sounds good as long as it runs good. I paid $2500 for my 86 IROC, TPI, auto, t-tops, 3.23 posi and rear disc.

Most if not all 87 IROC's with a 305 TPI Auto had the 10-bolt 2:73
rear with Drum Brakes. This was regular dealer ordered factory options. Unless it was a special order with the J65 rpo it will have drums.

The owner seems to think its got drums.... oh well....

I know you can swap a 4th gen rear in but I'd rather not have to use spacers...

Are 3rdGen disc rears hard to find?

The best and most cost effective would be to find a 1989 9-bolt rear with the PBR calipers & 11.655 rotors. Also stay away from earlier year systems and No there is no cheap bolt on Disc's for that 87 10-bolt rear.

The owner checked the car again and it DOES have REAR DISC brakes!! whoo hoo...

Even though its only a 305 right now, this car seems to be optioned with almost everything I wanted.

I guess we'll see tomorrow - WHEN I PICK IT UP!!!

My car has all the same options but has rear drums.
Hope you end up with disc.

Welp, It took me DAYS to get back, but I'm back.

The car has a few interesting options.

It DOES have rear disks... It also sports the G92 package and J65 package.

I tried to find out any info on the G92 option and HP ratings with the automatic, but was unable to find any.

What WERE the HP ratings for an '87 LB9 305TPI V8 w/auto and G92?

Thanks

1987 IROC with a Auto had 190 HP / 295 TQ and the G92 option gave you a 10-bolt rear with a 3:23 ratio and the G80 Limited Slip was required. Nice optioned car that was special ordered it seems.

I thought the G92 option also gave you the beefier cam as well?

Only the 5-SP 305 TPI got the better cam to make 215 HP. All the G92 RPO is the performance Axle ratio. Feel lucky you found a car with the options it has.

G92 was a package option in 1987. You got the Engine oil cooler, rear disc brakes, limited slip rear end.

with automatic you got smaller cam and 3.23 10 bolt

with 5 speed you got bigger cam and 3.42 9 bolt

Nice find. It's equipped with the same performance options as my coupe.

So it seems as though it was optioned pretty well, doesn't it? I'm very happy with it.

It's always a good deal when you find one with all the performance options. How about creature comfort options? Look for a 1SA, 1SB or 1SC on your SPID sticker (center glove box). These are the option packages for 1987.
