two 84 norwood built cars.... production date.

i have two 1984 camaros....

one is a z28, which was built in january of 1984. the last 6 digits of the vin start as as follows: 13xxxx (not posting the last four)

the second car is an 1984 sport coupe, with an unknown build date, as the factory door sticker is missing. i want to know when this car was assembled, if possible. the last 6 digits of this car start with 15xxx (not posting the last four)

both cars were built at norwood.

i've done some reading, and read that norwood could sustain a production of approximately 41 cars per hour according to the tech info on tgo here.

does anyone know if the production lines ran 24 hours a day?

i'm guessing somewhere between march to july is when the car was built... does that sound logical?

Profuction lines normally ran just two 8 hr shifts and the months mentioned may be changeover dates for new model runs.

Look at the top line on the cowl tag.

E 0?* 2FP87 N 15????

"E" = 1984 model year
0? = month
* = week of the month (will be a A,B,C,D,or E)

Awesome, thanks

the cowl tag is that tag riveted to the core support, correct?

here's a photo of the one from my z28. looking at the photo enclosed, it is looking like the z28 was built near the end of january.

Hi I wondering if anyone else here has a thirdgen that was built in Dec 1981. I think I may be the Orginal owner of the oldest surviving thirdgen Firebird. Gee you think that might make it worth more.

My mother bought a new (demo) '82 that was built 12-81 with VIN 1G1AP8720CL107275. This car was leased by the high school I attended and used as a drivers ed vehicle. My Mom bought it with 5k on it in July 1982. She traded it in on a new '89 Pontiac Grand Prix and we have'nt heard of it since. It was a 4-cyl, Automatic, no A/C but had rally wheels, am-fm stereo and tilt wheel. it was Charcoal Gray with a silver gray cloth interior, it was a real dog but a nice car. Chris
