OK, I tried the general tech and electrical boards, but no dice. Thought I might have a shot here as the VSS I'm talking about was only on older 3rd gens, mounted behind the speedometer. Here goes...

I added a Rostra cruise control to my car. Only one problem, my 82 T/A did not have a VSS mounted behind the speedometer because it had no ECM from factory. AFAIK, the VSS is supposed to send out a pulse signal, 2000 pulses per mile for 82 VSS's I think.

Checked all electrical connections, custom switches, etc. All checks out fine. Only things I didn't check are tach signal, which should just be a cutout for overrevving I think.

Anyways, I added a VSS from another junked Firebird, I thought maybe this could be my problem. I hooked up a multimeter and went for a drive to see if I could tell if it was working. I THOUGHT it should go +12V...0V...+12V...0V, etc. Instead, I just got constant battery voltage. It didn't seem to vary. Is that correct? Could the pulses be so fast my multimeter can't keep up? (I tried to drive very slow). I'd really like to get this to work! Thanks!
