Its too bad an aftermarket company didn't make that. Maybe it would have come out like the notchback. That was around for years before Pontiac finally came out with one.
Looks like an easy install and would have provided lots more room.

my idea would be more room for showing off you could stick subs on the sides or right below the windwo and amp's for a nice car show or even room for the fancy chrome nos bottles

That TA wa scalled the Camel back or Squareback something like that. It was a concept that never saw production. About the coolest family wagon (next to the Nomad) I've seen.
I know a bit about those cars
OK, so back in the 70's is where this story actually begins. I believe it was 77 or 78 when pontiac decided that the f-bodies needed more trunk space, so they came up with a concept car that had a hatch much like the one on the 3rd gen pictured above, they called it the KAMMABACK, i cant remember where the name came from, but thats what they called. the car they used was the 79 T/A. They built 2 or 3 of the 79 body style 'BACKs. Of these 2 or 3, only one exists i believe. Well fast forward to 86, once again pontiac thought there was too little hatch space, so they re-introduced the body style, only this time it was called a 'Hurst Hauler', not sure of that name either. They built 2 of these in the 87 production year, only the one red one exists today.
As for a retrofit kit, much like the notchbacks, they do make them. but they are pricey at 2,000 grand just for parts. I kinda like em, if i had another 3rd gen i'd make it the 'family car'.

I made it up there for the drag racing but did not show my ride. I was up there with the MTFBA which is my local car club. BTW both of the pics of the GTA were taken by one of our members.

I personally think it's an embarrassment to the F-body line; thank heavens that it never saw production. I'd go buy a station wagon if I wanted a grocery-getter. You don't look cool in something like this - you look like an idiot.

your right so i got bord and drew up some ideas in school well what i came up with would be a BB chevrolet motor in the back so it would be rear enigen and rear weel drive all thought then you would need weight in the front so you could put a floor in that and put a t'v screen that pulls out and play's dvd's or anny game system.
(that's just my $0.02)
