Camaro Promomodel

I bought this one on ebay. A black 1986 iroc promomodel.
Did all GM dealers give out hese models to people who took a test drive in a new Camaro?

Some dealers would give them away when you bought a new Camaro. They were also available over the parts counter. Large dealerships would order cases of them to stock. Different years were in different colors. Very common item. Now, promo models from the early 70's and older are worth some bucks.

Scania is right, they may not be exceptionally rare, but they are fun to collect.

I have all of the 4th gen Firebird Promo models.

As far as I know their were no thirdgen Firebird promo models made. I know their are 2nd gens, and 4th gens (maybe 1st gens, but I am not sure). The 4th gens are 93-97 only. Their are nine 4th gen Firebird promo models.

I know their are thirdgen camaro promos (obviously) for most of the years. I dont know the about Camaro promo models all that well though.

I have almost a complete collection of the Camaro promos. All the 4ths gens, All the 3rd gens (they made at least one for every year), I think I have all of the 2nd gens they made (they only made a few of the years) But none of the 1st gens.

I also have a pretty good start on the Firebird collection as well. They did NOT make any 3rd gens for the Firebirds. As far as I have been able to find out.

But looking around Ebay or swapmeets is a good way to find them. The 1st gens get up to like $500 or more.

Oh we also have a few of the Corvettes mostly C4s.

Not all dealers had them & not all dealers gave them away. Most sold them after like they came back in the 82 models.

we have a total collect of 43 promo cars that are OUT right now More in the back room because we dont have spaces for them Come next year they should all be back in cases & being protected.
we have I think close to 60 Promos total. Some of them we have we have more than one & if we do we give them to the Camaro club for our monthly auctions to Northwest harvest.

I think usually the promo models are less than a put-together model... I have never seen opening hoods/trunks, not to mention I think the seperate pieces are as follows:
Body,
underbody (sometimes includeds seats)
dash piece,
windshield & rear window piece,
Steering wheel
steel rods for wheels
wheels,
tires
bumpers if your lucky...
and of course the rivets to hold the whole thing together...

There pretty basic, but cool...

John

They are very detailed , the interior looks just like the real car, steering wheel , dashboard etc.
You cant open the hood , trunk or the doors.
