Original ???
I have a list of things I want to do with my car but I am very nervous because I want to be able to put my car back to original if I decide to sell it. ( 1983 Pontiac 25th Anniversary Daytona 500 Pace Car Trans Am) Please tell me if any of these things would effect my car being "original" or being able to put it back to original. New stereo system with speakers that fit in the original slots, a radio/CD Changer that's hidden aways somewhere w/the original still intact and keeping the orginal speakers, and a subwoofer somewhere, a custom exhaust, performance plugs/wires, Jet Chip, uh... I think that's all for now. Also, if there are any other performance things I can add that won't effect the "originality" of my car, please let me know about them. Thanks.

oh, I forgot to add that my car has the crossfire injected 305, not the carbuerated version.
Well i personally do what i want to my cars and i have been wanting a 83 daytona t/a, but i would still mod it and customize it to my personal preferances....but to each their own.
but if you save your original parts and mod parts from a salvage yard (like putting a radio in the center console so you can leave the original in the dash) just get another console for a 82-84 so it looks original.
Good Luck

My opinion is that as long as you don't do anything to the car that can't but put back to stock easily and inexpensively, then go ahead do it.

I agree with labrat.. As long as you don't do anything irreversible, do whatever you want to it.
Just don't do anything that might involve the use of a sawzall, a torch or scissors

At the Trans Am Nats in Dayton here are the rules, to stay stock.
a. Any Stock appearing floor mats
b. Any STOCK APPEARING after market shifter.
c. The stock hood scoop made functional (opened up).
d. Any Firebird Trans Am wheels from the same model year.
e. Any after market exhaust system with stock appearing tips.
f. Any Firebird/Trans Am factory option from the same model year.
g. Most after market-stereos-(inserts that fit without dash modification), CB's, telephones, or radar detectors.
h. Any Stock Type body side moldings.
i. Any Factory Type After Market replacement parts.
* No other visible changes will allowed in any of the stock classes!
Hope that helps

honestly speaking, Air Adam is correct, even though he did not say this. You can do alot of mods and no one would ever be the wiser unless you tell them. I know this guy he claims to have a 427 engine in his Formula, and I would almost be willing to bet money that its probably a 502.

its your car, do what you want to it.
Like someone on another thread hacking his car apart selling everything and cutting it pieces. I hate when people do that to cars not made anymore (well, the good ones...crush any 80s Cavalier you like), but it IS his car and he can do whatever he wants to it, regardless of what I think
My car = '89 Formula. Period. Has all comfort options, not a damned performance option. The LO3 boat anchor is getting the heave ho, and I'm putting in a T56 and a 9 bolt. Getting wheels, different hood and spoiler, changing the interior from grey to black, and the exterior to code 45 dark green metallic (not a color option in 89, not until 91 I believe). I am putting on trans am fenders and modifying the nose. screw anyone who doesn't like it
its your car, ENJOY it. I'd do what I damn well pleased to a 3rd gen Firehawk, 1LE, or turbo TA, or any other rare f body.

I would suggest changing your rear end gear ratio. I have a new rear axle with a 3.7 in it and I have saved the original with a 2.73. No one could tell just looking at the car and returning it to original would be fairly simple. It's a very noticable change when driving it though.
