I've noticed that a few of the parts on my car are parts that were new for 1990 (rear shoulder belts, canvas rear shade instead of vinyl) but I know definitely its an 89, (no airbag, still a 2.8) Would this mean my car is just a late 89?

 

My Camaro is an 89 built in December and it has the rear shoulder belts and canvas shade. Don't know that it makes it a late model or not. You should be able to find the build date on a sticker on the door where the tire info sticker is.

 

ALL cars came with back seat shoulder belts in 1989, I think it was manditory by law... Actually that is the only way I can tell an 88 from an 89, never let me down.

My car was built in March '89 and it has rear shoulder belts and the canvas rear shade. The rear shade was an option. If you have your build sheet or your RPOs in your console, it should list this [rear shade] as an option.

 

my 89 RS had 90 wiring in it. I bought a plug to put an aftermarket radio in and I bought one for an 89 and it didn't work, i had to buy one for a 90... it was weird!!

My '88 bird had the rear shoulder belts... That has confused me for a while...

 

MY 89 RS WAS SUPER LATE...JUNE 0F 89 PRODUCTION, THATS THE FINAL MONTH OF PRODUCTION FOR 89....POSSIBLY THE LAST F BODY WITHOUT AIR BAGS!!!
