The price for third gens is pretty low right now. I sold an 85 Z28, that was similar to yours, about two years ago for $5,500. Yours is probably worth a little more with the Iroc-Z option.

So I'd start out at $6500 obo and go from there

Yeeeeesh. Even with low miles, the 91-92 Z28s are going for that. Are you sure?

I dunno - I paid $2400 for my '87 IROC-Z. Yeah, it needs a little work, but mechanically its fine.

I was giving him an absolute top dollar figuire. You can always come down in price, but you can't go up. He might be able to get that price from someone that just has to have an 86 Iroc-z.

I will say that if someone offered me 6,500 for a car like that I would drive them to the bank and walk home.

There is a local guy selling a 91z28 5spd t-tops, loaded, 30k, and he wants $8500 for it. But its been 2 years and he hasn't sold it, I think he gave up trying.
