Nice S/E!

The S/E was basicly the luxury touring model Firebird. It came with a ton of luxury options standard that were optional on the T/A and base Firebird.

Trim package. Nothing performance oriented. Anti-performance if anything.

Kind of roughly equivalent to the Camaro Berlinetta. Heavily marketed toward young female buyers, whereas the T/A (and Z28) were marketed toward males.

And I knew 90firebird was going to see this and post *****.... j/k

Anyways...

In 1982 and 1983 (correct me if i'm wrong) the S/E could come with every option the T/A had except the LU5, L69 and Turbo Hood. It could even have WS6.

I belive my car was limited slip, whats the gearing if you guys know? Also someone told me that because of the SE package that is the reason i have a rear windshield wiper, rear defroster, rear windshield spray, and i should have a semi turbo hood, but without the side vents only the front ones, (like the TA's had, minus the side vents) It's a 5 Speed, and when it was running (motor blew) it was much faster then my friends 83 TA, or my girlfriends 84 Berlinetta. Thanks for any info.

Your 83 should have a flat hood.

The hood you described (only vents in front, none on the sides, appears similar to the 85-92 T/A hood) was used on 85 and 86 SE's only.

The rear wiper and washer were options in 83. I do not know if they were standard on the SE package.

My SE (Special Edition) was basically a Firebird with a Trans Am suspension (WS6).

Looks like a good place to jump in!

82 Firebird S/E Lg4 w/factory 4 speed and WS6. 67K original on the clock and a stock color of medium jadestone metallic.

It seems that not many 82 s/e's came with the lg4/4sp option, the drivetrain list on this site does not even show it?

just ordered the wonderbar, cant wait to try it out!

I would love to see a pic. Sounds like a very nice car.

You should feel a nice difference with the wonderbar.

Ok, it worked this time.

Found the build sheet, they were nice and put it under the drivers seat! Right between the foam and the springs

It's crinkled up pretty good but the rpo's all add up.

W69 S/E option
WS6
LG4 305 4BBL
M24 B/W 4 Speed
GU5 3:23 axle
G80 Posi
J65 4WHL Disc
N65 space saver spare, never used.
D42 Rear window shade
T93 Black tail lamps
Etc.

The only thing not stock or original are the wheels, the rpo was N89 with the P20 caps, UGLY!

I like the ones on it now, the later style N24's. They were on it when I got the Bird a few years ago.
I intend to keep it as original as possible except for the rims, The N24's from 84-91 are nice looking wheels so I'll hang on to um!

I dont think too many 82 S/E's came loaded with these T/A options?
Anybody have a ballpark estimate? I think I saw a thread from a few years ago saying maybe less than 1000 with the B/W 4 speed alone?
And around 200 or so with the Jadestone color?

Dude first that's a VERY nice firebird second its one of the nicest s/e firebird's i have seen.I also bought a 82 s/e last year.It was a black hardtop with the tan vinyl int.Had ws-7 and the same n89 wheels and p20 caps. But it had 220k miles and was in bad shape for a one owner car.All can say is keep it nice like it is.Cause i guarantee you those firebird's will increase in value in the future only 21,719 1982 firebird s/e's made most were 2.8 v6's and iron duke 4cyl.Not many v8's ESPECIALLY ws-6.I'm guessing only a few hundred with ws-6/v8 made(shortage at the factory of ws-6 rear disc most went to the Lu5 crossfire cars like mine).Do you still have the n89 wheels and p20 hubcaps? some int pic's would be nice I'm sure the car still has the pmd seats those things are comfortable as hell.

I didnt know it had the 4-spd makes it more rare.NICE RARE CAR you have.Jadestone is a VERY rare color you may want to check out this site the guys is a 82 firebird nut an has one like your's same color too .If you email him tell him dave from oklahoma sent you

Thanks dave

I dont have the original N89 wheels or caps, someday I will find a set for it but im not in a hurry.
Like I said, the N24's look nice to me

Im going to be replacing the headliner and carpet very soon so i'll be taking some before & after pics in the near future.

The only thing I really need to find for it now are the S/E emblems
The guy I got the Bird from said they were stolen not long after he got it as well as the S/E badges/buttons on the inside lower door panels.
I have pics of the outside emblems but have no idea what the inside ones looked like

If anyone here has any "extra" S/E emblems laying around they want to get rid of please let me know

If this pic uploads it's the only one I have right now of the interior and shows the actual miles on the clock.

TJ

To the starter of this thread...those are not N24 wheels, they are the N78 hi-tec turbo wheels. The n24's were the turbo-fin aluminum wheels.

In 83 the SE wheel would have been color keyed and looked like:

The N24 of 83 and 84 looked like:

In 85 the N24 went to this:

Wouldn't get too hung up on Wheel RPO's. Seems GM reused numbers but changed styles and used the same numbers for several car lines.
