1992 TA with 6spd stock? 4 sale locally...
First off... I know, I know... none came stock. But, I have heard debates about 92 Firebirds with them, and this guy is 100% sure it is factory!
Here is his ad:
92 Pontiac Trans Am: WS-6, 350 TPI. Last year of 3rd gens. 969 made. Has rare 6-spd manual T-56 trans. Every factory option except t-tops. Upgraded black leather with dual lumbar seats, Edelbrock headers, 3" Hooker exhaust, B&M Ripper shifter, LT-4 clutch, 3.42 posi, NOS kit (uninstalled), dual gauge pod, etc. Many new parts: battery, alternator, rotors, pads, fuel tank, fuel pump. 2 10" subs. Very fast, very clean & dependable. Used as daily driver. $6700 Boston
So, is it possible? If not, what can I say to convince him it's not stock? Is there a 5 speed identification RPO that would say it was at one time?

did you go see it yet or talk to him?
I would probably just let it go. Obviously he is either lying or mistaken after buying it already modified. You could explain to him that the car is not factory with a 6 speed but chances are he already knows it, whether he ever admits it or not.
I thought about starting an archive of incorrect classified adds because I see so many that are borderline hilarious. It's amazing how many third gens have 350s *cough 305s*
..or you could go look at it, take it for a drive, rag the **** out of it, and then say "on second thought, that's not what I want afterall" and leave.

never heard of that.
most likely sounds like a 305 tpi with a 5 speed.

It probably was an automatic at one point.
Were there 92 TA's with 350TPI engines? Maybe that's what he meant by the 969 made thing.
But, even though it isn't stock, it still sounds cool!

The Firehawk had a ZF 6 speed (or something like that)... The T-56 didn't appear in F-bodies until at earliest 93...

All you have to do is check the RPO codes. I'll bet the list includes either
MM5 (5-speed) or
MX0 (auto with OD).
Once you see either listed, shut the guy up with your proof.
