This factory or not???
Ive never seen the dual mufflers on our cars that are stock, and from what the original owner told me, the car is all stock. It is definatly louder than my friends '85 IROC, whick has the one big muffler. Is this stock or aftermarket??

Yeah I had the same thing on my old 83 S/E. It was super loud after I replaced the manifolds with shorty headers. Oh yeah, someone had also hollowed out the cat before I got it.
As far as restrictive; well it had dual pipes coming over the rear if I remember. Then one went to each muffler. There is a crossover pipe in the middle.
With a fairly built 355, it was turning 288hp at the dyno.
I was going to replace it as soon as it rusted apart; but it never did

I have seen the dual mufflers on several 82/83 LU5 cars. I am not certain if the LG4 or L69 cars had them too, but I have only seen them on some LU5 cars, but like 82FirebirdTA said, he has them on his LG4 car, so...

I had them on my 83 LG4 'Bird. Worst exhaust system I have ever seen. I dropped .95 in the quarter by doing headers, and a 3" catback. Almost a full second.....yep, it sucks.

Which is why they went to one muffler with just dual outlets.

my 83 crossfire had that when i got it, it sounded real good for a factory exhaust setup, but i replaced it with a flowmaster and noticed a big difference

My 82 LU5 had that exaust. It sounded real good at wot. But i had to get rid of it, to many snaking pipes of tiny diameter.
