In my experience I do not remember seeing a black 82-85 Map pocket with a silver bird.
The same map pocket was used from 1982-85. All the black ones I have seen have had gold birds. The light grey 15th T/A map pocket featured a blue bird, Firebird SE's featured various colored map pockets with black bird logos. Because of the different color map pockets I would not totally rule out that a silver bird was not used at some point.
From what I have seen, 82/83 T/A map pockets were black with a gold bird logo. 84 T/A map pockets were black with a gold bird logo and "TransAm" script. I *think* the 85 T/A map pocket was identical to the 84.
86-92 their were a few different style map pockets and colors offered.

Cool. Thanks! Guess I need to keep my eyes open now.
I have an all black and silver theme going on the interior and the gold logo just sticks out and looks all wrong.

You can swap any 82-92 map pocket. I got the 89 with a small silver bird in the right hand corner in my 84. I used to have a 91/92 with a small orange bird in the right hand corner. There's quite a few different models over the 10 years to choose from. Check e-bay there is always alot of them on there.
