'85 Firebird S/E V-8 rarity?

Hey guys, I found what I think is fairly exciting. An all original un-molested gray on gray '85 Firebird S/E with a V-8, 4 wheel disc brakes, t-tops, overhead console, power windows and locks, A/C and a few other options that I'm not sure of yet (I've only seen pictures of the car). The car may need a headgasket or something like that, but it runs and drives, and I'm told there is no coolant in the oil. Anyway I know there were only 5,208 Firebird S/E's made in '85, but I'm curious as to whether or not there is any breakdown of how many had V-8's, t-tops or any of that other stuff. I think this may be a fairly rare bird! Anyway, I'm hoping to pick this car up soon, and I'm just kind of excited to have found it and wondering if anybody can shed any light on its rarity or lack thereof? Thanks for your input!

I'm planning on getting it, but here's a link to some pics of it. I won't set them up directly in this post so it doesn't kill the dial-uppers (they're somewhat big pics), let me know what you think!

Hopefully be able to work out getting it this coming week, we shall see!

Ok, I'm trying to get this car and the guy needs it gone out of his driveway as soon as possible so he won't save it for me with a deposit, so is there anyone around Poughkeepsie NY that has a truck and would be interested in driving to Long Island tomorrow to get it? Let me know

All right! I'm psyched. I got everything worked out and got money sent to the guy and I'm going down to pick it up Monday if all goes well. I can't wait to see this car in person, I hope it looks as good as in all the pictures! I'll keep you all posted once I get it

From what I've read '85 was the year those were introduced. They were standard on the S/E and the Trans Am, but the base Firebird still got the same tail lights as the '82-'84's. So I believe those are the correct tail lights on that car. Even if they're not, I love the way they look

Yeah i like them too. I dont like the vented look of my tail lites. I like the round lites behind the vent like thingys but not the vents.

Yeah, I don't mind the tails on my '84 T/A though. They're tinted, whereas the base Firebird and S/E in '84 got the regular un-tinted ones...here's a pic of mine:

I still like the ones on my new S/E better though

I picked up the S/E today!!! It's absolutely awesome! The only thing not as described is that it has rear drum brakes, not discs...but for $400 I'm not gonna complain The interior is in awesome shape overall...the overhead console is missing the flashlight, but that's to be expected. The passenger seat looks like it's never even been sat in! The remote hatch release works, and it's got both the roll up cargo cover and the hinged hard one. Better yet, when you open up the hinged hard one you find the original T-top bags in MINT condition. I can't believe the shape this car is in. The motor runs really well too, probably needs a head gasket, but that's minor. Anyway, just wanted to share my joy. I'll get some more pics of it when I go to work on it...I'm psyched!!!!

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know that I took some more pics of the car tonight. They're at the same link I posted before. I sized them smaller than the first pics so that it won't take so long for dial-uppers to see them. Let me know what you think
