I have no prob in the VB area with my third gens. There are alot of people who like or want a third gen. Even my body who loves nothing but Mustangs like's my 91.
Oh and to those of you saying that Stang guys give no respect I own 3 Stangs and 3 third gens. A 02 V6 Stang An 85 5.0 and a 69 Mach 1. To go along with my 85 Iroc 91 Z28 and my 87 TA.
I also went to a rich school. Everyone liked my 02 stang cause it was Bran new but when I bought my first third gen they alway asked "what the hell are you going to do with that, Junk it". It's just the age group areound you most of them probably don't know anything about cars.

I get major compliments on my Camaro, but mostly just offers to buy it.
you have a nize Z28 as well
Whats the mileage?
you have a nize Z28 as well
Whats the mileage? Nick - I would give my left nut to have a pristine Z28 like yours!
For the love of *** don't give in to those stuck-up snobs and trade your car in for a Porsche or something like that! My car gets a fair amount of respect - I fixed it up and made it an extension of who I am. Before, it was another trashed out Camaro that people would snicker at. I've painted it, fixed a few things, and now I get the occasional gawker.
Last night, I was at a mall in Salt Lake City with one of my best friends (theratdude64 on here). A man, probably in his late 30's, early 40's came up to me as my friend and I were taking pictures up on the roof of the parking garage. He said to me: "Hey, whatchu guys doin?" We talked for a little while, explained we were taking some pictures of the car, and he said the car really wasn't his style, but it was a sexy car, none the less. I couldn't help but laugh when he asked: "What year is that? A 77?" "Nope, 89."
There's a lotta ****, lotta new luxury cars, and a ton of big trucks up here, but like you - I dare to be different. I think it's sad that alotta teens are giving into the import craze, and not giving a second thought to an American car. I know how you feel about being in the minority: There's only a handful of thirdgens in our F-body club, most of which are 4th gens. Sometimes they tease me for having my thirdgen, but meh - it's all good. I've got what I'm happy with. There's not many thirdgens up here either, and the majority are trashed out. Yeah, it's sad.
It sometimes surprises me what people say about my IROC. I pulled into my friend's high school auto shop (full of imports), and got several "That's the nicest car in here!" comments. I was floored! My ego swelled 100 times over when I heard a comment said behind my back: "I wish I had a Camaro like that.." That just made me grin from ear to ear.
Keep that ride of yours, and keep treating it right.
Do you have any pics of your car? I'd love to see it sometime. If ya want to see mine, check out my cardomain site in my sig.

yeah its in my cuzins shop right now, hes cleaning it up, waxxing it for me , cuz im prob putting it in the show, Hes cleanin the engine out the interior everything, due to it was sittin over decade and its a black color things to get dusty overtime, this is 1990 when it came out the factory , ever since then its been sitting... So nope man i dont hav pics (besides one its lil dusty and im to embarrased to show it
cuz i took it out of the garage that day and it didnt see sun in 6 months!) So yeah...... I will get pix up when i bring it into the show in a couple weeks!
So ill get some pics posted soon. And yeah its weird either ppl love third gens or they just think its ugly and totally hate it (in my area atleast) But hey i love it and F*CK PORSCHE AND BMW! Just another name i hear as well as Ferrari, big deal those are pieces of sh*t that you cant beat on and drag with them... All the rich ppl do is put 2k miles on it and let it sit in the driveway for show! Atleast in a CAMARO (all gens) You can pump them up drive crazy with them and still keep it nice
Yeah i skipped school today
But yesterday some kid at school went up to me and asked " WHERES YOUR IC0CK?" First of all its not a IROCZ (its a 91) Irocs were only made from what 1985-1990.... Sec of IROCS are the sh*t.. Man alot of losers and **** boys around here that just want to start trouble. Funny thing about these **** boys is they dont even put a K&N filter under the hood they keep it all stock and put stickers and wings on the car
They go like 115hp at 135Lbs og tg, hahaaha! heh let them do it there just make themselves look stupid.

I havent had any problems about people giving me crap about my car. All my friends, relatives, simply love my car. Sometimes they play around like their scratching it or acting like they drop something on it just to get me going, cuz they all know how much i pamper the thing.
Even people i dont know, ive only got compliments from the streets, parking lots, cruises, its a good feeling.
Of course it could be the area and the group of people you with, but here in Southeast Michigan, theres TONS of car people who know there stuff, and appreciate a nice car when they see one, it literally is a great place to be, other than the stupid weather.

The most common reaction I got when people found out I got one is "it is just like a car I (insert other name) had in high school". I'm 30 and the IROCs were "the" car to have growing up.

Dont let it get you down i havent had one person bad mouth it i mean in school all i hear is good things everyone thinks its a big smash and you know since me and my brother are considerd "un-cool" its kinda a booster to hear how nice the car is and once we had a car full of girls and i think one guy floor it through trafic just to get next to us and ask us what year it was and tell us it was beautiful so that is always great mostly. we get comments from older guys, kids in school, hell everyone. but i live in south florida its so diverse and such i get comments from people from everywalk of life. i mean its not poor nor is it rich its all different. but no matter if we are in the ghetto or in the ritzyets place we get good feedback **** the only bad comment we've goten is from a ***** and he drives a honda civic (who woulda guessed?) that i nick named smokestack (it bellows black smoke and we killed him by atleast 5 or 6 cars ) so dont let it get you down and i say once you turn 18 move down south down in the south east third gens run rampit.

To steal from a genius in "Blue Collar Comedy Tour": buying a car from a car rental agency is like going to a house of ill repute looking for a wife. You do NOT want anything that had been driven THAT had by SO many people.

I don't have girls come up to my car or somesuch, I think you're getting entierly the wrong impression.
Things aren't entierly the same in a different culture and out in the country away from the cities.

Heh, speaking of just that, looks like my car might have given me a new GF from the looks of it
(no she's not one of those car chicks mentioned earlier)
We both like american cars, her dad has a Barracuda from around 1970 as well.

I have never had any bad comments about my 85Z28. Everyone who comments on it says they like it or wish it was theirs. Even the import guys respect it. It doesnt look pretty on the outside but when I open the hood their like..."OMG, what the hell is that?" "Thats sweet!!" Whenever I would pick up my 14 yr old daughter from school she would tell me, "Dad, everyone wants your car." These kids are growing up in the import generation and still know a good car when they see one. I pulled up to the gas station and this guy comes in with a chevy p-up and is looking my way the whole time. He gets out and says, I wasnt looking at you I was looking at the car. I call him over and we talk for awhile and he wants to see under the hood. He was in total awe. Turns out his wife has an Iroc and she was thinking of parting with it. I think I talked him out of it. I waved at a red formula thirdgen the other day and the guy turned around and came back to talk to me. He said he had to stop and see what I had. Made a new friend in the process.

People only have nice things to say about my car and those that know about these cars wish they had one or they use to have one. Either way you have one and a nice one at that so the hell with them. I say dare to be different. It is better to lead than to follow the crowd.

Thirdgens arent old cars , but they arent new cars (there in the middle thats when no pays attention) But give it another 10-15 yrs and ppl will fall in love for a nice clean stock thirdgen. Give it time. My dads 86 vette is almost 19 yrs old and it starting to get a lil respect.

People already do. And if there wasn't increased interest nice Third prices wouldn't be higher and magzines wouldn't be featuring them more and more.
