Is this really a 92 GTA?

Forget about the Knight Rider stuff, but is this really a GTA?

92 GTA or Firebird?

Says the spoiler, taillights, etc. were an option in the final year of the thirdgen GTA. I think the guy that sold him the car sold him on that story. Why would anyone downgrade a GTA? Am I wrong?

I gotta say no. Tailights where not an option on GTAs. Unless it was Euro, then it did get those taillights. The spoiler, however, is a base model one. The rims are 15" and deffinately not part of the GTA option package. It also does not have the GTA hood.

VIN would be nice, or a copy of the SPID.

Base Firebird with the very popular side skirts pkg, not a GTA or even a TA.

Yup, just a base model firebird with the skirts and 15" diamond spoke wheels.
Didn't the GTA also have a higher speedo, like 145mph? I bet that's probably a 120mph in there.

GTA's could indeed have the 120/6K cluster. They could also have rear drums (not that you mentioned that or anyone else). These are 2 of the most common GTA myths...

Wow, that dude has some problems... I wonder if it even has the engine he says it has in there, considering there is no picture of the engine in the car...

taillights

My 91 GTA did have the base taillights. I thought this was strange also but after checking my rpo's there wasn't one for the T93 taillights. It did have the Y84. So unless someone did an excellent job of faking the rpo sheet I would say it is possible to have a GTA with the base taillights. This was a canadian export car.

Export cars did get the base taillights. All the Euro ones did, for sure. Canadian, weird, but it may have been made as an export, and just ended up in Canada. He is missing too much other stuff that even Export GTAs have.

Any 91/92 GTA I've seen here in Winnipeg have the correct taillights, same as the US cars. That's interesting.

just for the record i am willing to bet cash that the claimed motor swap is bogus as well. the picture of the motor included shows the motor in another car, not his. this guy sounds like a clown to me

A '92 GTA wouldn't exactly make a very convincing K.I.T.T. replica. Perhaps he downgraded it for that reason, but after reading the thread on the Knight Registries board, I gotta believe this guy is full of sh*t.

There is no way that is a GTA because it has the wrong wheels, hood, taillights, and no badges. Those are the obvious visual details you could check the vin to confirm

Are you sure about that because isn't WS6 standard on GTA's and with that disc brakes.

He is correct, as my GTA (have PHS Package) has rear drums. Its was a credit, but both our GTAs have that option.

An idiot trying to save money. Should have gone with a fully optioned formula instead. Save more money and get more performance that way. Course it wouldn't be a GTA though.

Excuse you, all GTA's with the LB9/4L60 combo have rear drums, it was an automatic thing, not an option of someone trying to save money...

Putting in aftermarket T's is CRAZY! That's why you order the 305 with the SLP Package and make more power than the 350 AND have factory T's
