I may be wrong but I think that is a scam, that is just a convertible camaro with a aftermarket convertible top cover.

think its fake? you mean they took a low mile mint 87 convertible camaro (because they didnt make them till 87) took off the factory top, put on an aftermarket one, and changed the front facia, hood, tailights, guages, interior, engine and vin?

i dont think so

im not sure if it was supported by GM but i do think that a real company made this convertible kit, and i do believe its an 84 and i really believe it to ba a rare car. if the GM story is true i would buy it.

It's not a fake. I've seen other examples online before by AutoForm. As to whether this guys version of the company's history is accurate I have no idea.

They were very common at one time. Most of them have failed to meet th etest of time.

Before the factory started selling the ASC convertible conversion (now that's a stewpid-sounding choice of words!), you could buy that thing in the pic from Autoform. They themselves didn't put any chassis reinforcement in them, so they were ridiculously squirrelly to dirve. I recall one coming into the RHS shop when my late little bro was working in their store, in abour 83 or 84. Looked alot like that one.... red ones were particularly popular. In fact I can't recall seeing one when they were new that was any other color, except black.

The 83 Autoform Camaro I looked at had Subframe Connectors.

That car is rare. The build sheet shows radio delete. Only 181 84 Camaros came with radio delete. Consider if this wasn't a convertible...84 Z28 with 5 speed L69 HO, 4 wheel disc, radio delete, No A/C.

But with the delete items, look at the other options it has. Power windows, locks, mirrors, custom interior, tilt steering, courtesy light package, posi..

Whoever ordered this car originally was smoking some wild stuff. I agree the car is rare, but I would have preferred the car to be a ttop car. I guess they figured who needs AC if we make it a convertible. Also, GM stereos didn't sound that great in 84, so they probably figured they'd put their own in and never did.

Nice car nonetheless.

I think that car is beautiful, regardless of what it's worth, or how rare it is.:hail:

My friend has an AutoForm convertible 83 T/A.

To be honest, the workmanship on the conversion isn't that great. The back fiberglass lid has an ugly steel plate hinge that is spot welded onto the sheet metal just above the taillights. It's really hard to get them out to change bulbs and looks nasty up close.

It's a pretty unique design though as it is actually a foldable hard top. I think the access hole to the trunk is kind of ugly though.

Looks great from 10' though!

You could get verts before 87, just not factory (ok, dealer factory) That was one of them. I've seen them on ebay many times before, but never that nice!
