Just picked up a new IROC
I stole this car!!!! The owner had no idea what he had its a 88 iroc 305 tpi 5 speed 1LE package. It is mint condition in and out and is gray metalic outside and grey inside, hardtop with 70K orginal miles. The car looks like new and runs like it two!! I got the car for 6500 cash! It only needs a headliner, doesn anyone know if they make a factory replacement I want to keep the car factory and original. Why doens't my car have an aluminum driveshaft? It has the oil cooler, power steering cooler, big brakes, alumium spare tire, and the paper work says its a 1LE option car. I thought they came with it, if it should have one I would like to get it where can I get a factory aluminum driveshaft? Thanks in advance for the help.

I find it hard to believe that you were able to get an 88 1LE for $6500. Does the car still have the SPID label in the center glove box? Can you post a pic of the label?
If the car is legit, it's possible to not have an aluminum driveshaft in 88. Since this was the 1st year, there are many discrepancies on the options for those cars. Two 88 1LE cars have AC and fog lights. They also have power options. It was 89 that mandated the specific 1LE options that we are familiar with.

Now im not saying your BS. Its just a high percentage your car mite not be a 1LE... They only made 4 of them in 1988. Now if it was a 1991 yes i could belive it. Now for its an 88 it seems fishy thats all cuz its so damn rare. Now the orginal owner i assume woulda known about this. Also check your Console like Scott says. If it says 1LE then ya got it.. If you it dont then you donthave it. Post some pics up. So somone can host em..

In 88 there was 2 305 5 speed and 2 350 autos built. I have seen one 350 go through eBay a few times. I know one of the 305's was raced hard and was the subject of a Chevy Rumble magazine.
So if you have a 305 5 speed, you have found the "other one".
The odds of stumbling across this are incredibly rare. Indeed quite a find if it turns out to be a real 1LE.
What "paperwork" did the car come with that suggested it was a 1LE?
Mark.

I guess it's time to put up or shut up.
Maybe a VIN number would be helpful.

Scott ... do you have copies of the build sheets for these two cars? I know I have one from 1988 350 with fog lights and no A/C.
