a b4c/interior question

i was surfing ebay today and saw a 92 b4c camaro up for action,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...87946291&rd=1,
in the picture it shows a glovebox on the passanger side of the vehicle,
i wasnt aware third gens were ever produced with one,
i thought just the center console and rear compartments,
is it a b4c option?,
a different option?
or a aftermarket install?
not that i really want one in my car,
just never seen one before

Looks like something somebody stuck on there at some point in the car's life, not part of the car at all.

It would be rather difficult to put a real one there in the normal through-the-dash fashion, as the ECM is right immediately behind that panel.

those gloveboxes are readily available thru the aftermarket, i think classic industries has them in their catalogs. not out of the ordinary. it this car was used for police use, they probably wanted the additional storage space. no big deal.

I would have to agree with the police theory. I'm sure they put it there.

The winner of the 1st Ebay auction has listed it now. Here is the old auction:

Nice car, too many "high speed pusuits" though.

Carfax may be able to tell when it was retired so Duty miles vs beater miles could be determined.

I am the owner of the B4C. It is an add-on aftermarket glove box. The car turned out to be something other than the "THIS IS JUST ONE NICE ALLAROUND CAR" that the original seller described it as. The car is not horrible, but I guess my idea of a nice car is different than his. I guess I learned my Ebay lesson. Anyway, the car runs excellent, has great oil pressure, and is pretty powerful. It just has police duty wear plus a lackluster paint job. I pretty much have all the parts to put it back to good stock condition. Just needs some paint and time swapping parts. I'd do it, but my other '92 has 3 cracks in the block and it is my first priority. As you can see from the original Ebay listing, I paid $3110 for it. It cost me $700 to have it shipped. I'm hoping to get my money back...or at least close to it. If anyone is interested, let me know.

Thanks for the info.

However I had a post not only get locked but removed for discussing my Ebay auction (I was selling an 85 T/A) in this forum.

Good luck with yours, you might just be in better favor with the powers to be

Don

This wasn't meant to be a plug for my Ebay auction. I would end that auction immediately and sell it to a fellow Thirdgenner if they offered something remotely close to what I paid for it. I was just very disappointed in my experience. The car wasn't horrible, but was not described very well.

I bought a 75 T/A off Ebay, promoted as a "drivable project". Upon pickup, the car had a dead battery and flat tires. Sellers love to push the “legal contract” crap but the bottom line is you cannot misrepresent items for sale then play the legal binding contract baloney.
I used the seller’s mistake as leverage to make a lower final price. I told him I’m under no obligation to buy the car and even told him he would be reported for fraud. Needless to say we reached an agreement.

I love to see Ebay auctions here, I have no problems, and would love to own a B4C. I know that if you start a post "Look at my Ebay auction" here it will be deleted. If you post Look at this Ebay auction" its fine.

wow, never seen anything like that before... I've always been disappointed in the design of the camaro dash in that they don't even have a map pocket to store crap in... just a huge empty spot there infront of the passenger, but that pretty much takes care of it..

The ledge was designed to decapitate people in case of an accident, I see no other reason why the it's there........

in every T/A and Bird or Pontiac Ive been in i always find nasty old french fries and crap in the little dash pocket. My fiero has some nasty looking stuff in it, first thing i did when i bought it was took some simple green to that stuff.

The dash's are good for decapitating passengers though.
